If I'm Pope, I am pleading for more money to throw at the kid, because I really believe losing him would be the breaking point for the Administration and would seal Pope's fate as UK coach.

Well on the bright side, if the season flops we can maybe get a new coach 
The most telling thing about all of this is that all signs are pointing to Wright staying at BYU and Pope has not pivoted to locking up Diallo. I am sure Diallo loves being strung along as the backup plan. Miss out on both and we are in serious trouble.
That chance was 100% now its like probably 50%. It's absurd.

Even if he did this, it wouldn’t matter. No donor is going to give him extra money to land a player knowing that A) the kid will still say no, and B) even IF he said yes, Pope would sub him out with us up 4 and wouldn’t put him back in until we were down 15.

Certainly looks like this will be the final nail in Pope's coffin as UK coach. I think he'll get the Colgate guard because we pay him more than anyone else will, maybe Diallo as our "star" piece if no other big boy comes close to our offer. So a backcourt no better than what it was this past season to go along with whatever leftover big men we have a chance with.
I'm resigned to the fact that next season is a loss. I'll still watch from home and hope maybe we hit on some diamonds in the rough and it's not as bad as it could be, but I'm just not seeing the vision. I'm with those that say let's moneyball this entire thing on out at this point and save the cash for the new coach to have more to work with come next March.

Call me arrogant but if you would of told me years ago we would lose recruits to BYU in basketball I would say you were smoking crack. I guess I'm the one holding the glass pipe.
And rumor was Stokes liked the idea of playing with Wright. This could be a double whammy. Lose Wright and lose Stokes.
Just fire pope, if you can’t snag Donovan this offseason, run with an interim head coach for the entire season and use the season to really find the right coach. This thing is over over.
The portal has been full of adversity but the challenge is what can become beautiful. I'm not even kidding, does anybody have a number for how many players we were predicted to get but didn't? The fanbase is being gaslit and told "We're toxic and paranoid" but it didn't come out of nowhere, you can only be told so many times you ARE getting a player and then don't get that player lol
Marc Hill is LDS. He also pushed heavily for Pope so anyone hoping for brighter days may want to find a new interest.
