I've never understood why we don't use one of those 4 available pre-conference series to play USM like this.
Thursday - Pearl
Friday - Starkville
Saturday - Hattiesburg
Sunday - Biloxi
Or something like that. That way we still keep a home game in Starkville on a weekend, and get the experience of playing in a tough road environment in Hattiesburg. It would also save the funds from having to pay a snowbird team to come down, keep the revenue within the state, and provide us a higher RPI team for 4 games. That many games moves the needle with non conference RPI. Maybe one day we could throw in Ole Miss and call it "The Magnolia Diamond Series", or just go ahead and call it that and leave Ole Miss out. Slap in the face to those crooks.
It would also give our fans in other parts of the state another great chance to see the M over S play.
I'll key Zac Selmon in on our new baseball scheduling model plans, and also Coast Rat's idea to count the Governor's Cup as an actual SEC game.
