You don’t ask for much do you?
Asking for a 7 footer isn't asking for a lot? I would rather have the 6'9"-6'10" 250-260 type of body for my center. That is why I said similar to Ed and Reggie. I'm not saying they have to be them, even though it would be nice, just that type of body and more athletic than McKeever.

I saw where Marquette was looking at McKeever and Fru. Their story referred to both as good prospects that did not carry as hefty of a price tag. Seems like that is who Ben is after also. Only time will tell.

I'd take a Doug Thomas and an Erek Hansen.

Who knows, but I tend to think that the longer it goes with no word, that no news isn't necessarily good news.
I listen to Iowa Everywhere, and on Hassle and Williams' show, they basically said the same thing.

If we're not getting word of any transfers by the end of the week, that is a major concern. And it's at that point, you can't really fault Ben, because that then speaks to a national player perception problem where even sheer facts won't change their minds.

Why go to "Iowa" and make some money and have success, when I could go somewhere else, where even though the success may not be guaranteed (at all in some cases)................I could also, however, make EVEN MORE money!!! 😃😃😃

It's no longer about what you can earn..........it's about what you will earn.

There's also the possibility that Iowa has passed on guys. Ben has been known to be picky in the players he invites to join the team. If they don't seem like a culture-fit, they aren't going to get a spot on the roster.

More likely at the moment, though, is that Ben and staff are running an extremely tight ship, with very little information leaking out. Much to our chagrin.

Agreed. I haven't seen any info out there about other visits he is planning but who knows....

Edit: Sounds like he has been in contact with other programs, including UConn, Cincinnati, Michigan, and UCLA -so some stiff competition, but I can't find any info about other visits being scheduled.

According to google AI he is expected to make a decision by the weekend of April 18, 2026 (I think they picked this up with info from behind a 247Sports pay wall FWIW).

A shame how little that 05-06 is celebrated by fans.

4 Iowa kids in the starting lineup. Represented the state very well!

Was also pretty cool when Bohannon, McCaffery, McCaffery, Murray, Murray were on the floor together. All from within 35 miles of each other
If you want to be celebrated, you don’t get knocked out in the first round by a 14 seed

If McKeever and Glass both go elsewhere, I’ll be very concerned.

It was my 3rd favorite Iowa team of my younger years just behind the 1996-1997 teams with Kenyon ('96) and Woolridge ('97).

Unfortunately, I also had the highest hopes I'd had for an Iowa team in my sports-aware lifetime with that '06 team and they had to go and do what Alfraud teams typically had done throughout his tenure, and find a way to blow a lead and lose to these middling, scrappy teams that they'd refuse to put away.

At the time, it was one of the more crushing defeats I'd witnessed, and certainly most all Iowa fans can attest, but in hindsight, it became slightly less surprising when you looked at several other games Alford teams lost during his stay here.

I remember picking that '06 Iowa team to lose to Pitt in the 2nd round in my bracket. Why? Steve Alford. By that point I'd become all too accustomed to seeing his teams underachieve. There was always hope of a run that year, but I was a skeptic by then. I was pissed, but not particularly surprised, when Iowa coughed up that game against NWST. :(

As you said, Alford's track record hasn't really changed much since he left Iowa, either. Lost a first round game as a 3 seed with UNM, and his Nevada team coughed up a late big lead in the First Four a few years back.

My first game ever at carver against I believe it was kelvin sampson and Indiana. That’s was also before Pierre Pierce got kicked off the team. Doug Thomas was a beast and could dunk with the best of them!

Now these kids have agents and they are trying to push up the price and having success. It’s getting more disgusting by the day. It’s all a negotiation now so the people I know close to the program really don’t know what these kids are going to do.

More like loose tweets sinks the offer. He wants nothing to get out about the visit.
On today’s Hawk Central podcast, Chad and Tyler were talking about how, when Ben was at NW Missouri State, he didn’t even want recruits to post when they got offers. The dude likes to keep everything under the radar.

I'm sure Ben and company have evaluations what these kids are worth. I'm sure there is a cap, so will they lose some prospects, sure. Ben will put together the best team he can.
If a kid chooses to go elsewhere for the money then they arent a good fit. We should pay people their market value and sign kids that want to be part of something not simply getting paid.
