Got this off Twitter so can't verify the accuracy of this quote from the University but this part was pretty funny (I may be paraphrasing a bit):

You are factually incorrect. A forfeit is recorded as a loss. Awarding conference championships...is purely a conference decision based on whatever internal criteria that conference uses.

A forfeit in sports is a penalty where a team or athlete LOSES a match automatically.
