Starting over essentially every year is killing college BB

What a cluster

Tulsa will need an entirely new frontcourt w Behrend gone
But we still have Rigsby!

I am fatalistically thinking he will go too, and that they just haven't had that conversation yet. He is the last one, and only Lawal has signed up so far.

Remember they don't have to declare. And I suspect two of them would be invited back if grass is not greener.

I think the grass will appear greener, and they won't be back. Not saying it will be greener. For some of these players they may get a little bit more money, but no shot at the NBA. With us they might have had a shot at the NBA. You don't get a shot when you sit behind a player, and get no time on the court.

I wish that Behrend did not already have the responsibilities that he has.(Wife & daughter.) He might be a little more willing to risk something for a future opportunity, than settle for the cash in hand. I completely understand where he is coming from though.

Not true in the Ford situation.

He profited from the success of the team without contributing anything to it.

He stole from us, he stole from the team, and he stole from coach Konkol. The program paid for his recovery and got zero out of it.

That one sits squarely in my 'no honor among thieves' category.

That should have a no transfer stamp for next year, until he plays for us, to make up for us paying his bills.

I think in the scheme of things, nobody across the entire ncaa would have a problem with this.

You must play to be eligible to transfer next year, should be a rule written in stone.

You kinda hit something there with me. If you are given something and you dont contribute you should be required to pay that back to the lending institution. Talking about UAB and Temple interested in him, you should never be allowed to transfer within the conference.

I hope bad things happen for PJ Haggerty because when he left here he went to Memphis. Of all teams to go to MEMPHIS!!!!. So when Kansas State sucked I was elated because Haggerty was on the team. I know the guy can play basketball. To be honest I dont think he is an NBA caliber player so he needs to get what he can now because I think the only ball he is playing after college will be overseas.

Riley is irritating me because it looks like he is pulling a Kevin Durant. Sounds like Auburn is getting a good look from him. You dont go to Memphis and you dont go to the team that just beat you for a championship.

Both are unforgivable sins in my book. You dont have to agree with me but I cant look at you anymore if you do either of those things.

That intra league transfer should still be forbidden. I don't put that on the players, I put that on the NCAA having no balls. For reasons of competition, that rule of no transfer within the league is fair. It does not unduly take anything away from the player, transferring anywhere else he desires. Their is nothing protecting the teams integrity. It's all about protecting the players. That isn't right. Otherwise the rules in the NBA would be unconstitutional. Pisses me off.

At one point our AD prevented Clarkson from transferring to Texas since an agent was involved and he went to Missouri to play for Haith I think.

That used to be allowed but once the lawsuits came up that has resulted in the Wild West of transfers without sitting and NIL, schools and conferences basically have no control.

In theory, they probably could still do it but I doubt any would because then players wouldn’t come to your school.

I feel like a broken record but the state of college athletics is fundamentally broken. And it’s disappointing and sad.

In the distant past some schools paid money or gave cars to players who signed with them. 😳They won championships till it was nullified years later by the NCAA but the trophies are still at the schools.

I always thought that was illegal from the start, but schools did it and didn't 'get caught'.

College recruiting has been shady for years. My brother was ruled ineligible for a year at Arkansas Tech in 1958 just because Sam Hindsman the coach took 3 of the best Senior high school basketball players in Arkansas to Kansas City to watch TECH play in the NAIA National Championship. Arkansas Tech in 1958 was better than the University of Arkansas Basketball team. Most instances like this were never even mentioned.

Often it wasn't a car given to them but 'loaned' to them. A certain P4 team east of us used to take the players cars they came with and send them to a shop to be fixed. The player then got a 'loaner' while the mechanic 'waited' for the parts.

I'm pretty sure I saw Todd Day at the University of Arkansas, get into one of those "loaned or gift cars" back around 1990.

It was suspected a lot a students made money taking SAT and ACT's for athletes back then. Occasionally they would get caught. How do today's players get in without an ACT score?

Most private schools now are test optional.

The last name on here Jizzle James is actually Edgerrin James Jr., the son of NFL Running Back Edgerrin James Sr. Apparently he got Jizzle from his father as a kid and it stuck with him and that is what he prefers to be called on the court.

Sad we can’t compete financially with Depaul
No it isn't. SMH They don't have d1 football and basketball. They have an enrollment at least 4.5 times bigger than us, meaning they have a larger alumni base. They have been around just as long as we have. They are the largest Catholic University in the US. Why would we be expected to support football and basketball at a higher level than they support basketball?

Same reason we struggle to compete with Wichita State in basketball NIL $$ They don't have football. They do have baseball but that is not as NIL heavy as football.

You must ask yourself "can I find someone as good or better for less." The downside, of course, is knowing a player in greater depth when he has played for you thus reducing certain risks.
