We’re in the middle of portal season. Who the heck would we even get to coach for us right now? If boosters wanted CMP out, they would’ve done it after losing to ISU. We have to just accept that next year might suck a whole lot and let it go and hope we can get a better coach to replace CMP at the end of next season.
He said for him its a toss up, that yesterday he was more confident. I'm not hearing any of the BYU is the new leader things people are saying. Kid is literally on campus with our staff currently. I don't buy it.
If I'm UK, I'm letting him do one more year under the 80% rule that he's done. I've seen enough in the portal recruiting season already. And I'm putting feelers out quietly throughout the year to agents of top coaches to see who would be open.
Donovan could be on the beach, possibly. There guys that UNC just went through, cross off the list. Look for good coaches who would see UK as a real upgrade - perhaps Vandy, TT coaches. Even the St Louis coach is worth taking a look at. I think the guy PC just grabbed could have been great at UK.

If it’s a JMI issue, Pope needs to come out publicly and say it, otherwise he is just taking it in the *** for them.

Hard to believe JMI is the problem when we constantly hear "UK has the highest offer" and then a first year football coach nabs stud QB.
I don't tend to believe the JMI junk much. You are right. Everyone reporting we have the highest offers for just about everyone. This is on Pope.
The money paid to football players mostly comes from reg share with a little NIL to supplement. The money used for basketball is nearly all NIL and deals are negotiated by JMI.
I’m lowkey losing patience
The only thing I can think of is Nike poisoning our well after Cal pissed them off. Sometime around 2018-19, all the top Nike recruits suddenly started going to Duke and we got the scraps.
I have no evidence to back this up, just spitballing.
I’ve said some bad things about Pope. I had hoped I was wrong and I’m still hoping we get some good players … which COULD still happen. But it really looks like he’s a huge flop. Seeing UK fail at landing any recruits is sooooo bizarre. He has to be a complete moron. I can’t believe where we stand. What could be doing to screw up every single recruit ?
