For, say 75 percent of what Stokes is asking, would you take him?

I'd be very tempted to lock him in as my wing forward, and be happy with the outcome.

I know Stokes has a ton of potential, but so did last year's #1 recruit Darryn Peterson. Even paired with Bidunga and lots of other talent, that got Kansas all the way to the Round of 32. And to say high-profile NIL-era recruits have been injury-prone or frustratingly temperamental is an understatement.

Give me Wright, Blackwell, Momcilovic, the best bruising 4, a stretch 4 (or the best available options) and a few well-chosen complementary pieces to go along with Moreno and Kam Williams, and that would make me happier than sweating out whether Stokes was going to live up to the hype.
I agree with you but you must also think about what happens when your prize freshman sits over half your games. I just don't trust these kids getting 4-5 million knowing they are going to the NBA in a few months to do what many have done and that is say I am hurt and must sit the rest of the year.
Kids like Stokes might be great but I question if they are hungry enough for college basketball.

I’m not sure Momlivic really counts as a “wing forward”, he plays the 4 spot …albeit a 4 who also happens to be an incredible three point shooter.

He doesn’t fulfill the playmaking and perimeter defense needs you want in a true wing 3 in nearly the same way Stokes would.

This place is like a bunch of idiots on the Price Is Right - can't hold focus for a second. Wants everyone to sign the minute their feet touch campus, if not onto the next guy. There is no fanbase like this other than UK.
You nailed it. Goofiest fanbase in sports

Nowhere near as bad as the idiots too stupid to change their name from 'Anon1234567'. They troll the board non-stop with useless drivel and when they're ignored, they move onto the next Anon numbered name.

If we had Wright already signed, then I would call Stokes and tell him we need your decision now or the offer is off the table and sign Momcilovic the second I hung up the phone

Even if he wasn't likely NBA bound guy is going to ask for that big of a payday also. Have you seen what these top portal guys are asking for? Blackwell is rumored to be around 5 million.

Need to handle our recruitment with precision, not helter skelter. The mode of recruiting doesn't get the right recruits, and I think half the time it's to satisfy the fan base.

Get some guys like Goode, Wilkins, Reibe or Gwath then swing big. Stokes is gonna drag this out and not go home with us on prom night.

I haven’t seen a good source about him being all but already committed to Florida yet. From all the info I’ve seen from the Iowa State side, he’s pretty determined to stay in the draft and anything in the portal would just be an emergency fallback if that process goes very poorly for him. He’s not going to be the guy to get a quick decision out of even if he would be willing to consider us among his college options.
