What are your expectations for Rocco Becht this coming fall?

From everything I've heard so far about Becht, I expect him to be McSorley 2.0. I expect him to be a savy leader that does what he has to do to keep the chains moving and the offense on the field. I also expect him to give his WRs a chance to make plays downfield like McSorley did.

If he can stay healthy and we catch a few breaks, we've got a shot at hosting a playoff game in Beaver Stadium in year 1 of the Matt Campbell regime. WE ARE!
Every player is different, and those two may have some similarities, but Becht is not anywhere near the pure runner that McSorley was.

I've lowered my expectations of Rocco and this program to ground level zero, so my expectations have already been met.

I don't know many of the new player's names, don't feel inclined to learn them and don't know which former PSU players were retained from the 2025 roster.

In short, IDGAF about ISU East. If they do well, great. If they don't, that's on them.

Then why the F waste your time on a PSU message board?

Waning reminisces of something that was once great.

I don't expect you to understand. To do so would be far beyond your pay grade and mental faculties.

Word in State College is he has a Pop-Tart arm. That is why he never got a look from ND.
Does he have a brain?

Allar had a "cannon" of an arm but little functioning cerebral matter, especially under duress.

McSorley 2.0? That’s big shoes to fill.

Do we have verifiable knowledge of what his compensation is? Because, it is SOP here to set expectations accordingly. This is professional football, therefore, any underperforming player should be subject to incessant ridicule. You are our guy.....until you disappoint us. We Are!

Becht appears to be slightly below McSorley as a passer and no where near him as a runner. He’s going to need a strong running game and strong defense or, we could be looking at a 7-8 win season. I think we should have kept Grunkemeyer.

Regime change at PSU is infrequent as compared to most programs. I think it's entirely possible that Coach Campbell looked at many issues....but the friendly schedule in particular, and felt that if he could just "hold serve," there was a genuine path to a 10 win season. So bringing in your veteran QB makes sense in the short term. Let's be honest, we need to recognize that short term is the shelf life of this new brand of football. Lot's less time spent of "install" and essentially a coach "on the field," makes sense to me.
My concern is more for 2027. Without a legit 2026 recruiting class, and 22 roster RSS/S...and add the likelihood that Rapp, Rojas and Donkah etc. declare....the roster is a revolving door again.
