I agree I mentioned about a week or so ago how good he and Paulson have been on the corners for us
You would think errors would have a ton of affect on DRS though
I think compared to last year we are better defensively at 1B and 2B, and just as good defensively at short or maybe even slightly better.
2b - GG has been an obvious upgrade over VDB. But while Paulsen has been “perfect” so far, Stokely was at .994 and .990 in ‘23 and ‘25. He was sneaky good out there.
Would love to know the math behind DRS… Interesting that Cooper’s fielding percentage is just .906 - almost identical to GG at 3rd last year. And it’s not identical from a ratio of chances and assists…. Cooper has about the same number of assists NOW, as GG did ALL of last year! Not only the hot corner, but also a really busy corner!!
if you'd told me that 2 UNC players were atop the ACC in DRS, I probably would've guessed about 4 guys before Nicholson (who i've thought has been very up and down, with some awesome plays and some bad misplays) and Gallaher (who has seemed perfectly serviceable but not particularly dynamic) - Schaff, Paulsen, Winslow, probably Hull, too. shows how much the eye can lie to you.
I don't understand how DRS is calculated for college baseball because I don't think it factors in all the tracking data of the MLB stat.
As a team, we're 16th in fielding percentage and 10th in DP's (1.1/gm). Darn good defensive team.
