I don't know what happened to this kid at Creighton. I barely remember him in our game with them. Starting again in the Big 10 might be attractive to him. Got interest from Michigan (probably not good enough) and Indiana. Will close to 4 million get it done?

He'll end up at Michigan, or back at Iowa, or somewhere else in the midwest
Agreed, between the inflation of the big man market and our budget, it’s very hard to see us getting this done and signing him. I just don’t see him coming here and it may be outside of our budget, hope I am wrong.

Id overpay for him, but don't see him coming east.

Only if you measure success in terms of money because he is on his way to being a failure as a coach.

And in this coaching marketplace, no real coach is signing a contract without guarantees of NIL going forward at a floor of 20M in 2027....

You do realize that North Carolina couldn't even land an actual successful college coach and hired a NBA champ coach in Mike Malone......cost UNC 50M over 6 years plus NIL requirements North of 20M today to get him to take the job.

I guess you think the RU job is better than North Carolina.....LOL

UNC only even considered a couple college coaches who are already at blue blood jobs. Malone is an excellent hire, and they didn't have to deal with any buyouts to get him, easing the pain of the contract.

Would welcome Owen Freeman. He was coming off a serious injury and disappointed at Creighton. But at least has experience, and was very good at Iowa. This is about as good we could do at Center. Much better than Khaman Maker of DePaul, and St John’s. Where he barely played at either stop. Hello Baye Fall. Are we really doing that again?

Give me Freeman, Baye Ndongo, and Amari Monroe. There’s our new front court. Pay them our budget. Bring back the rest. Take a flier on a couple low major wings/shooter seniors to be. It’s not that hard. Let’s go

After looking, Monroe has no eligibility, guess he portaled just in case there’s a loop hole. Cross him off then and find a 3 and D wing.

Freeman was terrific at Iowa. He would be great if he is healthy again. Ndongo would help us also. Can we dream.

Honestly - if we added Freeman and Ndongo I would be fine with however we proceed to fill out the rest of the roster. If it takes up our whole remaining budget to do it - so be it. Roll with 10 players for now. 6 returners, Wooton, DR kid. Maybe have Zinn out there campaigning to raise a bit extra to fill out the other 3 slots over the next few months. No front court and it’s Eddie Jordan land for us.

This is the only path. Some don’t understand investing 2/3 to 3/4 of your budget on 2 players is LITERALLY the NBA model

Have to agree, not an ideal pairing, but as good as we could possibly hope for

If we could get those 2 and retain everyone else I would at least feel like we tried to improve the roster

getting those 2 would at least make me feel like there’s a glimmer of hope

How is it even possible our staff doesn’t realize this? I cannot believe our name has been popping up with all these guards. We could bring Dylan Harper back at guard and we’d 100% still stink if we’re going with Maker/Ware at center and sliding Buchanan to start at the 4.
