This doesnt make any sense to me. If a recruit has kept his decision this close to his chest for months on end why would he tell others days before he needs to announce? I say BS
You would be correct. This guy is on here throwing ish against the wall all the time to see if it sticks.

Yeah, we needed to end his recruitment while he was here if we really want him.
If they’re willing to pay big money there will always be another name.

My read on the situation: feels like an AZ player as a west coast guy, bigger PG, doesn’t shoot 3s. Could also take UKs offer assuming it’s his best, but doesn’t want to take their 3M offer when we’re desperate and they know we’re offering more for another PG like Wright. Leverage play against a staff in a very rough spot.

As bad as Pope has recruited, he cannot let a player get to another school visit, when so many commit with no visits at all these days.

It would be a bad look for sure. Bad result just depends on who they would get instead lol. He’ll get kids this cycle that don’t visit I would think as well

I didn't think it matters, but he wants to hear what their plans are for him. The staff needs to be prepared to tell him he's the point forward. He will have the ball in his hands making the decisions. On the nation's biggest stage.
* Great selling point to wrap up Stokes "potentially".
* Confident young man in himself, and definitely in his game. Misunderstood: definitely.
* alot of good moves have been made for a commitment to UK to happen 👏 👌 👍

... we shall see soon enough.

In the Hoops Summit game tonight, Arkansas signee Abdou Toure locked Stokes down, literally ate him alive. Stokes ain't all that. LOL.
You better hope this kid can coach himself to play defense because Cal won't.

With any other coach I would be sure Stokes is coming in to sign a contract. What’s he need to see the campus again for? But the stink of fail is so thick on Pope right now, Stokes is probably just bored and trolling him. Pope can’t even land a mediocre PG who isn’t a good fit for his system with an on campus visit, while other coaches are landing better kids that have no clue where the school even is.

He is 6’7” with a 7 foot wingspan, he is long. He won’t get pushed around like a 6’9” skinny guy. We lacked physicality last season.

Tyran Stokes, a top-ranked prospect in the 2026 recruiting class, has a wingspan measured at approximately 7 feet.
View attachment 1253134247Sports +2
  • Height/Weight: He is listed at 6-foot-7 and 230 pounds.
  • Physical Profile: Stokes is described as a powerful, long, and explosively athletic wing/forward.
  • Playing Style: Due to his length and strength, he is a dominant finisher in transition and a capable playmaker.
● preseason SEC Freshman of the year!
●preseason all SEC 1st team

Prediction ( upon committing to UK)
17/8/4 .. bonus : makes all SEC defensive 1st team!
● SEC POTY.
A must get prospect. He is that good!!

The only reason why we have even been this far is Nike. Remember when Pope went all out to thank Nike after the Tennessee game on the Uniforms? He was making a case for what a good partnership we had with Nike and their importance to the program. He was speaking directly in a way that was asking them for help on this situation. Everyone knows it. This is the last gasp, Nike is really pushing for him not to go to Kansas, ultimately the kid is going to do what he wants to do. The amount of social media impressions Tyran Stokes is going to have at Kentucky vs Kansas is a significant amount. The right business move is to come to Kentucky, but Kansas is selling him on his development, getting him ready for the NBA, and his relationships. We will see what happens.
Excellent post.. 💯

If you can get Stokes, you take him and build a team around him. He's the point forward that would allow Pope to run his action sets. He's a tough matchup for college 4's and him being on the perimeter creates space. Folks on the wing would get open shots. He's got a high basketball IQ and the passing skills to make an offense go. It costs a lot of money, but if that's what it takes. That's what it takes.

Strong 💪 indication of sending Stokes a message, :we want you here @ Kentucky"
!!!. Diallo WITH RW/DT was the plan for PG from the jump.. Thomas goes to UH and imo i think things have cooled a bit with RW. [ staying @ BYU ]. Pivot to the VT kid/kid from Colgate/ Brown Utah/kid from Georgia.
Make no mistake Diallo came to his visit knowing he is PG #1!

So much relies on Stokes coming here I feel like. If we can't Stokes, it might be the nail in the coffin for Pope. Perhaps the only way Pope can bounce back from all of his mishaps is if he can somehow get Stokes.
Pondering the thought.. Do we want to win? Yes!. Do we want Pope ultimately to succeed and secure his 1st major 5star[not out the portal]. Yes!
So, with that being said 🤔 as much as the powers that be, ( boosters/Nike etc..) feel they have endured [as it relates to the money side] we all have .
The return investment for Stokes is worth the risk. You want UK back on top of the college basketball 🏀 mountain top, ITS STARTS MONDAY.

Just fantasy I know. But what would this lineup and roster look like?
G - Stokes
G- Hill Jr.
W - Kam
W - Graves
C - Moreno

Hawthorne - Blyden Jr. - M. Williams - Noah - Perry - Potter - Defense first portal big.

IMO that lineup is nasty and pretty achievable if we had a coach who could close a deal.

Is the scuttle from X fan accounts?
Herald Leader has an article that Zoom is going to visit Arizona next. So, if true, he won't be committing until after that visit I would surmise.
Looks like a lot of you guys are absolutely correct about Stokes. If we can get him the flood gates might open for other guys to commit. Big if in my opinion.

Arizona will lock Zoom up on the visit. That’s what closers do. I don’t think he’s a great fit anyway but Pope can’t even close on guys I don’t want.

Good lord, none of them are coming to "see the campus." They'll never be on "campus." What you think he wants to check out the library, the chemistry labs and the dorm life?

That is my point genius. Pope wastes time with these weekend visits while other coaches are signing guys who’ve never set foot in the town. And that’s the last time I respond to a guy whose only purpose is to troll the board.

He’s like Marvin Stone who peaked as a junior while others passed him up.. Stokes is talented no doubt but I bet he drops in the rankings once they come out.. not much…especially if he commits to us

I don't understand panicking over the Stokes situation right now. He'll be on campus tomorrow. He's probably going to commit this week and UK is one of only 2 (maybe 3) schools he's been linked with. We're in a good spot with him, as far as I'm concerned.

I think we have a good chance at landing Stokes and I believe that we still start to get some of our main portal targets once that happens. Stokes really impressed me in that Nike Hoop Summit game. He passes the ball really well and is an unselfish player. That hoop summit game was fun to watch. The kids all played hard. It didn’t seem like a typical all star game.

Some yes. I don’t pay much attention to those. Somebody in a thread on here said Branham on a radio show mentioned Arkansas and Washington trying to get involved. I can’t remember who or which thread it was in
Arkansas is not trying to get involved, the Stokes camp contacted Cal a couple of weeks ago and ask if he would be interested in getting involved, Cal said no thanks.

I’ve been a downer on Stokes for awhile. However, after watching more film of him, I’m intrigued. His passing skills at his size is incredible. Put him at top of key and run your offense through him. He has a good enough jumper to keep the defense honest. Surround him with shooters. He’s a playmaking machine and would thrive in that role IMO.
I will tell you he has unlimited post moves, quick for his size, good ball handler, good passer, he used to use just his size to bully the rim now he’s developed and developing the 3 better percentage
