you know what is crazy this year- if you take the 20 top ranked MLB hitters from Yahoo sport pre-season rankings - they have a combined 30 HR...power is way down so far this year for top hitters. And only 1 of the pre season top 20 is currently in the top 20. We all know it will pick up but that is kind of crazy.

Lindor’s performance thus far this year is the most concerning. He is off to a slow start which is the norm for him, but his lack of effort is most concerning. We didn’t ever see this degree of mental lapses in any of his previous seasons with the Mets. I also don’t see him smile much anymore. Maybe the loss of Alonso, Nimmo, McNeill and Diaz are affecting him more than we realize. Maybe a lack of a strong leader is partly to blame. It maybe time to move on from Mendoza.

There does seem to be something off- I’ll be honest, I don’t think it is any of them. I really think Marte was such a leader for all of them. Should have brought him back.

And just like that Weaver gives it all back
Went mountain bike riding after second inning and listened to music. Checked score and turned game back on when it was 7-6. It all fell apart as soon as I turned it on. I'm the kiss of death.

Stearns is the GM for the Mets and Rutgers baseball.
Canadian Lol GIF

I know we are not allowed to question Stearns, but a deeper look has me concerned. He's been fast-tracked as some boy wonder, but every place he's been was rolling before and after he left. Stearns didn't have much say. His opinion was valued, but the GM in Houston built that winner. In Milwaukee, Stearns was allowed to sit out the year before coming to the Mets. Milwaukee didn't miss a beat. Stearns looks great because he was part of a machine. When given the keys to run things, he has fallen short. Can't laugh or flash that cheesy grin to cover your lack of genius moves.

It’s time for Mendoza needs to be fired and it’s time to severely hold Stearns accountable.

Some of his moves this offseason were organizational malpractice a la Polanco / Semien / losing Diaz etc. - notwithstanding letting Pete walk!

This Athletics team has some upside. A nice young core. Kurtz, Wilson. Soderstrom as a big left-handed hitter looks like what we hoped Bretty Baty would become, yet never will. They have a young Gary Maddox clone in CF. Questions is can they keep them together. A big if with the economics of baseball. As for us; we need to play much better or Mendoza may not last the season.

Mendoza may not last the month of April - let alone the season !

At the very minimum, he will last until June. Stearns/Cohen will not overreact to a subpar start.

Actually, let me correct myself. 15 games out of 162, less than 10%, isn't a start at all. It's just the start of the start.

You wanna have a friendly bet on this if the season continues to slide ?

You can’t conveniently ignore / neglect the record since June 15 of last year !

I have a partial season ticket plan and Fan Apathy / Disgust is already kicking in on April 11 from what transpired last year / during the offseason and the current product !

If you’re right - you can come with me to a game ( my treat) - and I have terrific seats ! And I ll buy the beer!

If I’m right - you do my laundry for the year. 😂. Just kidding ! I ll expect and want nothing. ! Lol

In all seriousness - I’d love to meet you and many of the posters on the Mets thread. Would be a blast !

We all suffer being die hard Mets and Rutgers fans ! 😂. Lol.

Nimmo batting.364 because of course
I was going to mention that, but there are people who would say Semien is far better. They will say he's a better defender, which he is, but he st
Petey batting .167 with 1 HR and 3 RBI. Touche.
Polanco .200 with 1 HR and 2 RBI
Vientos .278 with 1 HR and 5 RBI.

We all know Pete is a better fielder than both and that's not saying much. Come back in July and see if either Polanco or Vientos have better numbers. I doubt it.
The Mets will be lucky if Polanco plays 120 games. I want Vientos to have success. I love watching guys develop as they come through the farm system. I just wish his defense was better.

Garcia out. Joey Gerber in.
Some detail. Had no idea what the post was about bc had no idea who Joey Gerber is. Not all of us are up on every name on roster and every player in league

Reactions from Mets fans seem to be WTF. @cubuffsdoug_rivals , we have another Stearns fan out there!

Seems Mets fans fell like RU hoops fans with our portal haul so far

I think that I heard yesterday that in 2026, Pete has played 5x more innings than Polanco...Both have sucked to start the year but it also means you are paying Polanco much more than Pete per inning played.

I am ok with moving McNeil, I am ok for the trade for Robert Jr. I said both of these as they happened. I am ok with signing Bichette- but not for that money and the opt outs. I am not ok with just wanting Pete and Nimmo out.

The much better team would have been - C- Alvarez, 1B - Pete, 2B - Bichette, 3B- Baty, SS - Lindor, LF - Nimmo, CF - Robert, RF - Soto, DH Vientos.

You can't convince me that is not a much better team than what we have now with so many guys out of position.

Polanco was DH for 89 games last year. His experience playing first base last year consisted of exactly one pitch.

Me paying? I'm paying nothing. I'm just being silly and falsely argumentative here.

I hate all of this early season griping, and the "look at how this guy is doing" posts, when we leave out Pete being absolutely awful to start the season.

Some facts.
Braves lead the division at 9-6. Big surprise.
Phils 1.5 games back, Mets 2 games back.

Most dominant teams in NL right now are Dodgers at 11-3 (big surprise) and those "lowly" Pirates at 9-5.

Mets fans are like Rutgers football fans. Fans think their team may (or is) better than it actually is and look down their noses at smaller market teams. Mets and Rutgers fans also tend to wallow in their own miserable bubble without looking at what is going on with other teams in their division (or city).

Even the team across town that we shall not name is 8-6, having lost 4 in a row including losing 2 of 3 from the lowly A's.

What does all of this mean. I have no idea. We'll see where we are at in several weeks.

What I said in my post "Both have sucked to start the year"

And what pisses off most of us that are not happy with the leadership- Is that the guy is so full of SH@T.

Run prevention- Clubhouse Money

We could put up with it if he actually says something so definitive such as run prevention- and then follows up on it
And he has to make a change because the team really failed in the 2nd half of the year- damn- if that is the case- then the real and singular person who f-ed up the season was Stearns failure with pitching to start the season and then not getting pitching at the trade deadline. Alonso and Nimmo are not the cause of not making the playoffs last year.

I hope the message board jinx works and he hits 2 HR in a W …..buuuut
Jared Young batting 3rd should get Stearns fired before first pitch

I doubt that Stearns micromanages the lineup card. Could be wrong though.
