Great hit off the end of the bat to beat the shortstop shifted way over, nice piece of situational hitting there
Maybe pinch hit for him??? I don’t know. I’m nervous.
Between that and the inning we scored one run, offense has had two golden opportunities and come up mostly empty.
no clue why Kellis gets that AB there. He hasn’t had a good AB since notre Dame
Bases loaded no outs scored 1. Bases loaded 1 out 1 run in. Don't score. Can't waste great opportunities like that.
One of Knaak's best outings of the year...as @TarHeelColby10 pointed out it's the only time this season that Knaap has recorded an out in the 6th inning. His longest previous outing was 5 IP (four times). Nine is also a season high strikeouts for him
French? He’s been the go to righty lefty match up and has had clutch at bats in the past
While I agree, it’s also like…if you have someone on your bench you like better than Kellis in that spot, why not just start that other person? Same pitcher on the mound that started the game for Clemson.
If they liked French or Sawyer Black in that spot better than Kellis, those guys would’ve been in the starting lineup today.
So who do you go to there that gives you a better opportunity?
We have been solid all year in the field imo, every team is going to have a few games where they field poorly over a 50 game season. Just got to bounce back strong Saturday.
Maybe Hargett? Rom has not been good at the plate. Heck, what happened to Sawyer Black?
Yeah, no. I’m taking chances with almost anyone else. Love Carter, and he has done some nice things for us. But, recently he’s been awful. If anything a little luck for CU that we got em loaded with the 9 hole coming up. Knaak did what really good pitchers do.
I’ve been tied up with having to “people” this afternoon and just got home in time to see us strand 3 - have there been many RISP left stranded or was that inning a one off?
There’s not a single guy in the roster on the bench that gives you a BETTER chance. Not one. The answer isn’t always the bullpen or a pinch hitter.
I agree with you. It’s just been so strange seeing us having so many uncharacteristic defensive errors. I know Cooper has had a couple, so I would love to see him do something good at the plate.
On another note: Nate Savoie has been on fire for Clemson, left fielding has reached in every plate appearance (1B, BB, HR, 1B) and his buddy Jack Creighton goes yard right behind him. Clemson leads 7-2.
