If Jan Jensen is really this dumb then she needs to be let go today.

I find that extremely hard to believe. You recently had the absolute best ever Woman's Basketball player who has ever lived, and you'd be incredibly dumb not to mention it (like they don't know, maybe the cave didn't get wi-fi). I don't believe for a second that Jensen goes on and on about Caitlin Clark while talking to recruits. Nobody compares, so why bother, you aren't turning into her regardless.

These are females we're talking about as well. Half of them might be more concerned if they can get their nails done in Carver before games. Feelings are in play here.
You have a couple here are extremely negative Jan. We still appear to be getting some pretty good visits.

Getting visits and getting them to stay are two different things. Jan has had some pretty high powered visits and most have been moving on
That is true for high school kids, but the portal is different. They would not bring a player to campus if they did not have the money pretty much worked out, and if there was a very good chance the player thinks Iowa is the place for her. Now, the visit could go bad, and things could fall apart, but the portal players want to find a landing place as quickly as possible.

I can't answer for him, and I've supported Jans hire, BUT, if we don't land several impact players, you'll really have to wonder, where this is going. This last recruiting cycle we land ONE player( A very good player) and struck out on a handful of quality guards. Now we have 7-8 open spots between graduations and defections. Its all there. NIL money, playing time, probably even starters minutes for some, crowd support. This portal season, will certainly go along way to define just what Jan is selling, and if these recruits are buying it.
I agree that this cycle will be a pivotal one. Still, if she can just land one high impact starting guard and a couple more for depth, with the additional talent and experience, this should be a really good team next year, better than the team that ended this year.

If we don't at least make it to the B1G title game next year with this team, that'll be a disappointment.
You do realize that USC will be fielding a team with 3 of the last 4 number one recruits in the country this year in Juju, Jazzy, and Saniyah Hall. Saniyah is higher grade than Jazzy was.

McKenna's ranking just dropped today to #7 in the country because 6'4" Okeke from Spain doing her senior year at IMG got ranked finally by ESPN and put at 5th. So 5th and 6th got bumped down. USC has three five stars coming in. We don't have the money or the academic appeal to ever compete with USC for recruiting. Our alumni base and Midwestern player recruiting base make that very difficult.

Also, UCLA has two McDonald's All Americans returning from this year's squad that barely saw the floor (one was injured). They're reloading top recruits with an enormous bag of money and amazing location and academics that we cannot come close to competing with.

What Jan did with this roster this year to win as much as they did was amazing. In the current climate of women's basketball, Iowa's NIL is good but it is nothing compared to UConn, UCLA, USC, South Carolina, Oklahoma, and TCU.

I sure hope we are in the B1G title game next year, and I believe in Ava and Jan.

But the things some fans seem to EXPECT should be easy for a program in a tiny city not near an airport in a red state with poisonous water and declining academics...is ridiculous to me.

I'd like to hope for good things in the portal while also enjoying the amazing things we do have.

It's USC's to lose next year. UCLA will be tough but they'll be breaking in all new starters (I think?) who definitely have talent but not huge on experience. Agree on all of the recruiting disadvantages we're at and that JJ did an amazing job this past season. I just think with the returning talent and experience along with MW coming in there's no reason we can't make it to the B1G title game again.

Not even remotely close to the truth.

Just feel the Jensen hire was rushed.
Badly rushed.
Good asst coaches aren't automatically good head coaches.
That shouldn't even be debatable.
Beth didn’t want to take the chance of losing Addie Deal!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
"Not a hater" "the hire was rushed".....Everybody drink

I think Iowa fans are really spoiled to think that getting to the conference championship game every year should be the low bar of the season. It's the best conference in the country with a lot of very good teams. USC s/b the favorite, but Michigan and Illinois are going to be right there with Iowa among others.

This is an insane standard. Only UConn and SC have made the S16 or better for the last 5+ seasons. So you think Iowa's floor expectation is the #3 program in the country?
That makes no sense. Va Texh has made the Final Four. Texas has made the Final Four. Iowa has made the Final Four. Louisville has made a Final Four. In the last 3-4!years. Stop selling the program short. It’s not standard. It’s what you realistically aspire to. Some fans have a huge inferiority complex. How sad not to aspire to this.,

Aspire to be UConn. Ha. You know that isn't a seasonal vacuum, right?
25 Final 4s (almost yearly)
12 Nattys
Over 50 players drafted to WNBA with 6 #1s

Any idea how many years for Iowa to level up to this? 2? 10? 50?
By far the craziest comment I've seen today. C'mon, trolls, do better.

And yet Iowa pulled two 5 star players out of a State with 37 million more people and DI schools galore. Weird.

Ava Heiden is from Oregon
Layla Hayes is from Alaska
Chit-Chat is from Georgia
McKenna Woliczko is from California

Can't wait to see the results when we FINALLY have drinkable water and the academic brilliance goes up! 😂

Why are you purposely misrepresenting my point. Strawman arguments reflect laziness and ignorance.

sweet 16/E8 as min expectation. That’s not UConn.

But what was UConn before Geno? USC before Staley?

You’re just someone who with sports demands and expects less.Thats fine. We’re all different.

You are just backtracking a very dumb comment, and moving the goal post while you are at it. Just admit you didn't think it through and move on. There is a delete function as well. You might want to use it.

Frustrated women? Where do you work?

But to your point…back to the portal.

Would everyone be thrilled with a Dani, McCowen, backup PG haul? And is that realistic?
Absolutely. Then maybe add a couple true reserves. Realistic... I'd say yes... especially if we can get Dani signed soon.

Right. And this may allow JJ to play multiple styles, uptempo and half-court. There won’t be warrior inside like HS so they may have to play a biit faster.

Wait, what? You mean CC22 is NOT on that list? Someone needs to check their math. Clark with 799 points as a freshman (led the NCAA) and 863 points as a soph (led the nation), That's 1662 career points as a soph? Then she scored 2300 points the last two seasons.

I think they are saying of current players in college.

Dani and McCowan are great targets. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wanting your team to recruit some of the top players available to at least be among the top eight teams in the country. And it’s also not wrong to want something better for Iowa than the Round 2 (top32) for two years in a row. I don’t know Iowa City. I don’t know if it’s an unattractive place for the girls, but I see some programs in small towns succeeding in recruiting and the transfer portal and I try to understand what the difficulty is for the most popular team in the world and one that theoretically has one of the biggest budgets in the country to turn money and popularity into recruiting success. Some part of the gear isn’t working, but I’m far away, I don’t know what happens, I’m just trying to understand.
