Yes sure. And yes most were wrongDidn’t people freak out about Tariq last year too? He’ll be a bust or he’ll be a player, but we won’t know until January.
but people also panicked about other players and were correct

Appreciate your optimismAs we have seen with the COVID year option - older players have an added advantage. Kid played in the G league Mexico city team Capitanes!
You are not understanding. At successful schools, the ADs office runs the fundraising show. They bring the coach in to make the deals happen. With Hobbs in charge, he refused to get involved and left Pike hanging. You can tell yourself that, but its not necessarily true. Plenty of successes had no support initially. I even know of one coach who was so successful raising for his program, the schools fundraising arm started bringing him in for dinners w donors for non academic reasons.

It was a general apathy over the entire class that came inWe had 7 freshman last year - not sure what you were expecting from any of them. We had 3 transfers - DBJ, Riq and Fall. Everyone knew Fall was a lottery ticket, as he flopped at 2 schools. Riq and DBJ were perfectly fine.
Right when NIL started? It was a general apathy over the entire class that came in
the euros are “freshmen” but they were grown adults who turned out to be damaged goods
the track record of crappy transfers goes 3 years back
Of course, I get that, but it was still on Pike to be doing raising for his program whether Hobbs helped or not.You are not understanding. Wrong!! This is a new era. Sounds like you are as out of touch as Pikell isNo. That’s the ADs job. The coaches job is to coach and build a roster.

“Someone we’ve never seen play from a league we don’t know much about”……that is the problem right there……had we seen tape of him at NM State and then more tape at the college level if he had maybe transferred to another program, people would have a much different level of comfort with him. Instead we have a guy who has played as much college basketball as me (that would be none) and add on to it played in a league we don’t know much about, as you said. None of that screams let’s be excited about this addition, raises far more questions as opposed to celebrations.Hard to make a comment on someone we've never seen play from a league we don't know much about.
Supposedly he plays on a very competitive club in the Dominican Republic whatever that means. It’s not. It’s the YMCA Sunday morning league, or rather, the Liga Domingo
Tariq had least put up numbers. He was lightning in a bottleDidn’t people freak out about Tariq last year too? He’ll be a bust or he’ll be a player, but we won’t know until January.
His recruiting went south after 2021Right when NIL started?it’s almost as if NIL affected the quality of players?
That's true. I wouldn't celebrate, but I also wouldn't label him a bust with our lack of knowledge. Give em' a chance...“Someone we’ve never seen play from a league we don’t know much about”……that is the problem right there……had we seen tape of him at NM State and then more tape at the college level if he had maybe transferred to another program, people would have a much different level of comfort with him. So clearly the best response is to panic about everybody.Yes sure. And yes most were wrong

My guess would be he starts as a wing. I mean Zrno and Powers started a bunch of games. He looks ahead of both. He'sI found this. Cousin of Pacer’s player. Has to be a depth piece.

Then be alarmed.I’m not going to get carried away… if this is an end of bench piece then this is a fine signing
I’ll be alarmed if this is a rotation piece
We already have end of the bench guard pieces on the team! We need true starter level talent. No idea if he can play but looks sketchyI’m not going to get carried away… if this is an end of bench piece then this is a fine signing
I’ll be alarmed if this is a rotation piece
Really? We're not recruiting D3 talent. The professional Dominican league is probably on par with the crappy league Zrno played in
its gotta be d3 type talent for the most part because there’s no hot bed of talent
Rutgers will list him at 6'8".Doesn't look close to 6'6 though, more like 6'3 to my eyes, which admittedly aren't great anymore

Sounds like a huge academic risk that couldnt even play for that ivy league school new mexico stateThe idea that many are already relegating this kid to the bench or claiming he's only a replacement for Zrno is ridiculous. According to AI he received offers out of high school from Washington St., Mississippi St., Illinois, Creighton and South Carolina. He probably went to NMSU because they told him he might make it academically, and it never worked out. Do you really think he is worse than he was four years ago. Seems a lot of quick over reactions here. As far as eligibility, Overtime elite provides academic support and it's a pretty good program. Nice job by Steve Hayn.
If you look back you'll see I edited my post. NMSU is probably the one school, out of his offers, that thought he could make it academically and he couldn't. Overtime Elite is also a good program and they do provide academic support. Rutgers will get him through if he wants to get through. I see him as a sixth man type, at worst.Sounds like a huge academic risk that couldnt even play for that ivy league school new mexico state
Maybe he was Jaden Jones in a past lifeSounds like a huge academic risk that couldnt even play for that ivy league school new mexico state
Dude's been hanging in the Dominican for a couple years. While probably not as fun now, since I drank the island out of rum a few years ago, he most likely hasn't been honing his study skills! If you look back you'll see I edited my post. Lol it is you is wrong. Of course coaches help or take it upon themselves if the AD is failing in their role to raise NIL but that is not their primary job. It’s been well documented how far we were behind because of Hobbs and how much Greg did on his own and the relief he expressed with The new regimes. If you want to get on Pike for not doing what Greg did in absence of competent AD leadership that’s fine but make now mistake it’s a critical main job and any major college AD.Wrong!! This is a new era. Sounds like you are as out of touch as Pikell is
Coach Pikell, never said it’s not job of AD but it’s also the job of the coach in this new era. Or we will just continue to languish under you.Lol it is you is wrong. Unfair, and Overtime Elite does give academic support.Dude's been hanging in the Dominican for a couple years. While probably not as fun now, since I drank the island out of rum a few years ago, he most likely hasn't been honing his study skills!
we have too many of these situations under Pike....Hard to make a comment on someone we've never seen play from a league we don't know much about.
