Hes is a take my ball and leave kind of kid. Things don‘t go his way he pouts. When it’s going good he’s confident (cocky) and fun to watch. If he was injured why take someone’s spot. Finish the tournament. Has a lot of growing to do. Tough year staying healthy. I believe Tom is hiding how bad he is injured. Maybe he should have set this one out. JMO

If he hurt it against Rowley why did he continue to wrestle? It didn’t seem like he was favoring anything against Max.
For context on toughness, they had a stretcher on the mat to haul Heppner off yesterday. After a lengthy delay he strapped his head gear on and finished the match against Mitch M. Holding MM to his only decision win this year. Oh, and he continued to wrestle on the back side to a podium finish.
He got a stinger in his neck once it went away he was fine. So you never noticed he couldn't suck up the leg when extended and him shaking his left arm during breaks ? And for context he finished the Rowley match as well just like Hepner did

The only issue I have with Angelo is I believe his offensive ability is better than maybe even he thinks it is. He needs to fire off more shots regardless of who he is wrestling, he's got the goods IMO.

I did pick McEnelly to win it at the beginning of the year, he proved last year he was a stud. Angelo is right there, and obviously Welsh and Sinclair are formidable as well. It's a guantlet for whomever comes out on top for the foreseeable future. 1 mistake for 1 second and you're out.

Angelo wins it all this year if he is healthy. Most people don't have surgery if nothing is wrong?! He damn near still pulled it off. Bashing on him for medical forfeiting out of B10s a n d NCAAs shows you are either clueless or just an *******. Take your pick.

He underperformed according to mattski
Well, he did, but because of injury. Not sure injury can/should be excluded from a final assessment of 'performance', it is part of the reason and not always a result of freak unpreventable things. Also fair to say that before injury, he wasn't the offensive dynamo that most hoped. I'm excited we have him, but he's not free from critique. Regardless of reason, he didn't have as good of year as many hoped. Give it whatever name you wish, he needs to improve like most.

Feel the exact same way. He should not have been out there. If you are hurt be hurt. Don’t go and try to be a hero and do more damage. If it is as bad as everyone says it is some one should have stepped in. Kid is tough as nails. I believe he got bad advice to wrestle the tournament. I’m

He has a lot more in the tool shed to give than most, I'm convinced of that. Maybe he saw how his brother got it done as a freshman 197 lb Champion and figured that approach could work for him too(?). No idea, but watching him more often it felt like he could widen the gap quite often if he really wanted to. He's got the goods IMO.

I picked McEnelly over him and The Field at the start of the year, just because McEnelly had been that good already. He proved it thru a full season prior, and backed it up with a National Title this year. He's a handful.

That said, a healthy Angelo is absolutely in the mix with anybody, and if he finds a way to open up his offense he's the guy to beat IMO. But he has to prove it, and that weight class as it currently stands is top heavy with some tough S.O.B.'s.

I guess, at least you gave him credit for being tough, but the rest of your post is way off.
A guy only gets so many opportunities to try to be a National Champ.

Can’t remember the last time 184 had 4 guys this good and underclassmen.

Very insightful!! Ice still more than a foot thick on lakes (but degrading fast so can't ice or water fish, or beaver trap), warming sun but still snow on the ground, turkey season not yet here, walleye not yet open, no portal news yet... Cleaning the boat, relining the poles, and dreaming of fresh Canada walleyes might be just what I need to snap out of it.

Wow I’m 5’4” tall. Wrestled through injuries. 56 now had both knees replaced 1 hip and a shoulder. Wrestled back when they shot up up and sent you out. Never denied he was hurt. i believe he recieved poor advice if he was hurt bad enough to not finish the tournament. Do you not think him be so seriously hurt could have jeopardized his career? So he went for it as a freshman Gets hurt worse and his career is over. I think that would be good advice for anyone. How would people on here react if that would have happened.

Pretty confident Iowa Wrestling has access to some pretty sharp folks in the medical field.

I think you’re on to something good. Personally, I’m working on my “Morel twitch.” Maybe this coming week?

Yeah you’re right. Carter Starocci shouldn’t have wrestled with a torn ACL.

I am just amazed at how people on here look at this situation. Star and AF are not even close to the same. Star was a 4th year with 3 titles no guarantee of a 5th year. AF wasn’t even a AA yet with 3 years left. Those 2 seem close to me.

Angelo will be in the mix if not the favorite each of the next 3 years. The interesting thing will be if one of those guys will separate from the others. Sinclair is the most offensive imo.

All 4 are so good defensively, it will be hard for any of them to pull away. I think AF has the highest ceiling though. His defense is next level and he should only get better offensively. With matches among these top guys guaranteed to be super tight, he also needs to get better on top so he can win rideouts.
