This is a tradition unlike any other.
I’m pretty sure he’s never been to the grounds. Wouldn’t really matter.
Chris Vernon. He’s been on radio and TV in Memphis for over 20 years and he does the Masters update bit on his show every year.
In their defense had this guy not been shared here during previous tournaments I'd not have a clue who he was either.
Although, I'd never presume he acted that way within the grounds.

Just a general commentary on these videos. I feel like based on all the cultural influences and references, there is definitely a hard line in the sand in terms of age of a person that will dictate whether they think it’s the funniest thing ever, or the worst thing they’ve ever seen. I’m going to roughly set that age divider at 47 years old.
He has been doing this bit for years. I’m not sure how people are just now seeing this.
Nothing offensive to me, I just don't think it's particularly entertaining or funny. A for his max effort though.
Right. He’s gotten shout outs from numerous PGA players, so yeah, it’s not exactly an obscure bit anymore for anyone that follows golf.
For me, sure…. it’s goofy, maybe even dumb humor, but it’s a social media hit that he does 2 days/yr during Masters week, and I always get at least a couple laughs out of it.
I believe I would be classified as an outlier ...
My stats: approaching 60. White (VERY WHITE), zero rhythm, old school, love golf and watch constantly, absolutely hate rap music, love the Masters (hell, I start thinking about the Masters in December while the golf channel is forced to run a bunch of pure $h!+ golf movies and documentaries because there isn't one damn decent tournament being played) ....
And I think this Vernon bit is fantastic. Absolutely love his pot shots at the god-awful pretension, the sheer ridiculousness of "the tradition unlike any other."
That's the best part of it. The beginning when he's mocking the ridiculous tone they set every year.
Btw, I'm sure most here know this, but the goofy plant names for the holes stems from the fact that the land the golf course is built on was a commercial plant nursery in its previous life.

I'm above the 47-year old dividing line that Perd postulated, so it's not my cup of tea. That said, I have no issue with anyone who likes it. To each their own...

The whole Grind City Media is pretty good. Jessica and CJ in the morning are great. Gary Parrish is okay, not great for my taste, and the Verno crew is fantastic.
49. And agree. Hell the older I get, the more I appreciate people that make complete àsses of themselves and don’t care. I move more and more into that territory every day with a teenage daughter.
