How long do they run with Benge for? He looks overmatched, which is expected for rookies

At minimum a month. He hit some balls hard the last couple of days that CF made some good plays on. No rush yet to let him work through it. Some growing pains were expected but it does stink we lost Soto during this period.

That's a sticky question. I was a bit concerned that his performance at AAA last year--though limited--wasn't good and that, while he had good stats in the spring, a lot of his hits didn't seem to be fully squared up. But it wasn't unreasonable to bring him north. Once the Mets made that decision, they have to give him time. If it's May and he's still not hitting, then anything's on the table.

That defense is really stopping Arizona from scoring. Oh, run prevention is more about pitching than anything. Stearns still hasn't done a good job of addressing it.

Tonight’s one of those stinkers

I have a way off the topic question to take your mind off tonight’s mess

Who in the Knicks organization F-€ked Stan Van Gundy’s wife ??? He and Reggie miller should never do Knicks games !

Having a stinker where your Ace pitches like he did tonight isn’t acceptable.
Stinkers can happen when Peterson pitches. Not when your Ace is dominant for 6+ innings.

Horrible loss today. Championship teams don’t lose games like today. I can’t stand these Lindor slow starts.

Very hard to watch this team !

Not much of a connection with the players - sort of like the BB team this year.

When I see Lindor and Vientos wearing ski masks like it’s 2 degrees outside - you just know mentally they were checked out !

Awful job by Stearns once again in team construction !

One would think somehow Lindor would change his approach / training etc to get off to better starts.

Can’t be a coincidence this happens every year !

It’s going to happen sooner than later when Lindor won’t be turning things around come when the weather gets warmer.

He ain’t no spring chicken !

It's one thing to be critical of a game but some of these comments are hysterical lol.
As a Rutgers fan, you've never been overly critical of any team's performance? 😂

I find it hard to consistently defend an underperforming team (collective) for almost a year. It starts with Stearns. The issue isn't with players, they are who they are. It's the GM who thinks he is smarter than everyone else. He ripped apart a solid offense for personal reasons, but never addressed the pitching problems. He never corrected the bullpen issue coming into 2025. Did some poor moves at the trades at the trade deadline. And again, didn't do anything for the bullpen to start 2026. Milwaukee success is not NY success.

The one thing I've learned from 20+ years of coaching is self-analysis. Nothing ever stays the same. You either get better or worse. This is where you learn and make corrections. Use others to get a different perspective. Stearns is making the same mistakes again this year. Milwaukee let him walk and they still are having success. Meanwhile, Stearns is getting exposed...hmmm.

I am with you - yes, I do enjoy a win and I really hope that Stearns wins me over because if he can do that, it means he has this team both winning and exciting.
This reminds me a little of when Schiano part 1 started to get some traction in recruiting and he started to just recruit for recruiting rankings and stopped filling the gaps that the team really needed. Heck- he went a couple of years where he only brought in 1 or 2 OL because he felt that he could just plug and play a slow defensive lineman into those spots.

We have an average, at best 2B playing 3B(yes, he is a guy I do like having on the team but really poor management to make a poor fielder try to learn a new position), We have a bunch of 1B have have a combined number of games played there that may equal to the number of games our prior 1B may have missed in his entire career. And I don't care about advanced stats- the eyeballs tell you they are awkward to say the best at the position. We have a RF who is a struggling rookie and heck, why not throw someone out there for him who never played it before. At CF- looks like we hit on a good one- I give Stearns his props on this one. And now that our lone power hitter is injured- LF isnt much better. We have a whole team playing out of position except for C/2B/SS/OF
Pitching- Holmes- yes- props to Stearns on this one - McLean- drafted before Stearns, Peralta- he will be good but may only be a year. Manaea and Montas huge failures and money loss. BP- Stearns did good so far with the backend but the middle relief- a problem, and it was last year as well- and he never addressed it.

I have no idea why some fans just seem like he is so damn good- Stearns has done nothing but fail here so far. But sure, I really do want him to prove me wrong but right now- this team is boring as hell.

Nothing but fail here. First season was in the NLCS. Second season absolutely super disappointing but still above .500 with a chance at the playoffs the last day. Players didn't step up that had to.

You make decent points sometimes and then you go so hyperbolic that I can't take them seriously.

If he even had a little success at the trade deadline- we are in. His first year- was the first year. Kind of like Flood’s first year.

im baffled why you and a couple of others are so dead set we have to believe in a guy who just hasn’t gotten it done.

let the man prove himself first. We are in the playoffs easy last year if he improved the pitching staff.

Triple-A Syracuse. April 9, 2026, Christian Scott threw five scoreless innings, allowing only two hits, with seven strikeouts. His fastball topping out at 97.2 mph.

Benge- not running on the passed ball in bottom of 8th; bobbles ball in top of 9th, 2B hit instead of one for A's; off line throw to home; throws to 3B instead of 2B.

Benge not ready, Lindor playing lazy in a daze..players out of position everywhere…and no accountability. Mendoza is clueless and Stearns is creating a mess.

Mendoza is an awful manager.

His seat getting warmer.

What’s Mets overall record since June 15 2025?

Bring him up !

He d be an upgrade at any position
I assume you are using hyperbole to make a point. But just in case you aren't, let me say this. Bringing up 18 year old Elian Pena from low A to the majors would be the most insane decision this franchise has ever made. And that's saying a lot.

EDIT: Yeah, I know about Tom Seaver. I too can use hyperbole to make a point.
