Is there anything out there that makes Pope look good? I'm serious. What is out there that makes him look good? I'm open to suggestions.
The implication seems to be UK is putting out the story saying Chandler asked for 3 million dollars. They're doing so because it helps Pope's image.

And people just won't believe THAT reporting.

But when the reporting is "Kentucky overpays for role players and 6th men" we're quick to believe THAT reporting.

After 2 years of reading "Mark Pope is too nice and pure because he's a Mormon and he'll never win being so nice," I have a hard time swallowing the pill that he's putting out lies to help his image.

My thoughts /

No way did Chandler ask for 3 mil. Crazy talk

no way did byu offer Chandler 3 mil.

Chandler probably just wanted out or wanted the money byu was offering, cause I’m sure uk reduced their give from year prior, probably by a bit, and he knew they were trying to recruit over him

KSR reporting that chandler asked for that much so pope said no / that was probably just some ******** uk gave KSR to run with so mark doesn’t look bad for losing the one kid most thought he could keep

Chandler not worth anywhere near that, he knows it and everyone knows it.

i like Chandler, wish he could have stayed. Best of luck to the kid wherever he ends up. Thanks for being a Cat!
As I said in another post--I don't believe good ole Mark Pope that's just too darn nice, honest, and religious is putting out lies to make himself look good.

I fully believe BYU--who has lost a ton to the portal--offered more than we were willing to go.

I also fully believe Mark Pope would have paid what Collin wanted but Keegan Brown said no way.

I would have thought that until his rant with the comparison of his time here vs Calipari. He’s desperate.

I was talking about Chandler, Moreno wasn’t even mentioned. I motion that you’re a cry baby that’s emotional like a teenage girl.
No, go back and read the posts, it was about Moreno.
And stop with the stupid Girl insults. Nobody is crying.

You cried like a little girl over Calipari when he was here now you’re crying like a little girl because I said I didnt believe Collin Chandler asked for 3.2 million dollars. Sounds like you need go get your testosterone checked you’re getting all emotional again.
So dumb. You have nothing to say, so you start with this "crying like a little girl act".
Dumb.

This makes zero sense.

Besides, if anyone is crying, it's you guys that get on here every day, punch a time clock and complain about Pope for 10 hours, like it's your job.

Pope can’t even hold on to the Utah Mormon guys. Geez…

Bad look, but there is more talent than CC on the boards. Just have to secure it (whiffing needs to end),
It's a money issue. Months ago I was concerned about the ability of UK to ever see another title because we don't have as many deep pocket donors as many other programs and will be outspent. Having a great coach can overcome some of that, but those coaches seem to be happy elsewhere.

The other option is to throw everything at basketball and let the other programs go down.

UK is going to be okay... losing Chandler hurts as he was a bright spot on a horrible constructed team.

Yet Chandler had his flaws and was exposed down the stretch. UK shouldn't have needed miracle shots from Chandler to win games last season.. if just a few of those didn't go down perhaps we'd be closer to a .500 team.

UK will get a more talented player for the same amount of money that Chandler is going to get from BYU.

in one sense, waiting while other teams are buying up players for high dollar clears out the suckers (not saying BYU is this, just an analogy).

So they can't throw another $3m at a guy who is on paper better than the guy they scooped up just to get it over with and fill out their roster.

Chandler is going to be set free and we'll all be better for it. If he hones that shot and learns to actually dribble then someone is getting a solid prospect

Said this months ago. I thought Chandler would be lookin to get out. His body language this year was bad, didn’t look happy to me a lot of the time. I figured BYU would call, or someone. And he’s going to be damn good under the right coach who PLAYS THROUGH HIM and doesn’t let ball hogs keep the ball from him when he’s hot. This one is going to sting down the road when he’s lighting up. I’m sorry if I was Collin I wouldn’t want to play for pope either. He managed him awful. He was turning into one of the best shooters in the conference and Mark didn’t do anything when some of these guys totally ignored him.

Wonder where the guys are who laughed and thought it was funny when I said that.

If Pope can’t maintain Chandler, this is gonna be bad.
You are funny. Chandler is just like everyone else in college basketball, looking to maximize revenue. He is not an SEC starting guard.

Ky can replace Chandler for less than he was asking. His roster spot allows for Pope to bring in at least 3 guards to replace OO - DA & CC ! Plus it allows Kam to slide down to the 3 spot & Hawthorne to play the 4.

Makes zero sense that I hurt your fragile little feelings because I said that I didn’t believe Collin Chandler asked for 3.2 million dollars. Then you go around telling people they are dumb if they don’t agree with you.

no point getting shook up about it

he had a high basketball IQ and had some key moments, but as I have said with all the other players,

we played on Wednesday of the SEC tournament, was a 7th seed and didn't make it past the second game in the tourney.

There is no player that is irreplaceable on the team.
Amen they can have them all!

I see someone else besides me has done the basic math, and figured out the #800 gorilla in the room that 99% of fans don’t want to admit is a likely reality 👊🏻

Again, you have nothing left to say.

You don't believe MM was offered 4m and you don't believe CC was offered 3.2m, but you would be all over both of them if you heard Pope paid that much to keep both. You would swear those numbers were 100% true.

I have plenty to say Karen. I already told you I wasn’t talking about Moreno at all I was talking about Chandler. I don’t trash pope on here daily, so keep crying and making yourself look dumb. Anyone that can read knows I was talking about chandler. I like Moreno so I’m happy he’s back. You do the same stuff on here as usual, you make a mistake and double down on it by lying/crying. You literally are trying to speak into existence bs that you’ve made up. Even the “proof” you shared, that comment wasn’t about Moreno it was about Chandler. I told you that already

The comment you responded to, was about Moreno and it was clear it was about Moreno.

It’s fine, it's an easy mistake to make, not a big deal.

Honestly, the hate and negativity on here us undeserving and it has me on edge.

Oh, I see what you mean. No man I was talking the whole time about CC. Just hard for me to believe he asked for that much money. I think popes going to do well with the portal. He’s talking to guys that fit his system and are really talented players imo

Dude can't create his own shot at all, can't even remotely dribble at this level and likely can't guard me. To have a player like CC you have to have a ELITE PG beside of him who gets him catch and shoot opportunities or let him fly in transition. He probably will be better in more of a catch and shoot 2G role but 3.2 mil is a lot to spend on a limited player who has hit a few shots and a few thunder dunks that give him a slightly better reputation than probably deserved.

Colin Chandler isn’t needed to do half of what you’re saying and some of what you’re saying is nonsense. You’ll see this year buddy. And Chandler was turning into one of the best shooters in the conference until this horrid coach stood like a moron and didn’t get him involved at all.

I’ve marked the post. We’ll review this in the coming year.

The "The Athletic" article said UK basketball has plenty of money to spend. Pope himself also said he is happy with the NIL and has "all he needs."

So IDK if I would believe some Internet comments saying otherwise when these two sources claim otherwise. Additionally, last year we supposedly outspent everyone. Therefore I don't know where your comment came from regarding lack of money.

The other day I did a deep dive into the University of Kentucky donors and our main donor, Joe Craft, is a billionaire due to a coal empire. That's billions, with a "b". Imagine having a billion dollars. That would mean handing say, 10 million to UK basketball, would mean literally nothing to you. 10 million would be 0.59% of this guys net worth.

All I can say is that if that were the case we would not be losing players because others schools offered more. Having one billionaire donor is not the same as having multiple billionaire donors.
