It’s a message board that’s actually precisely what it’s for.
Funny most on here don't use it that way. The adults with brains will wait and see who they hire before throwing a fit. I hope for a bigger name than JW. No offense to him as he's a great Hawk. Vhs said the hire will check all the boxes, but I'm not sure he has much for Iowa sources any more. No offense to VHS either.

I’m guessing the guy is wanting to touch bases with the recruits he was working with from where he’s coming from. That’s one thing I think the Brands would require is that you owe that to the athletes or future athletes of what is going on. Trust the process. Log out for a couple weeks and go plant a garden

I just heard from someone who knows things that it's Warner. So.... that would certainly be a choice.
This is one of those things that's both ridiculously believable and ridiculously unbelievable at the same time.
Assuming it's true, and we'll see eventually if it is, it certainly couldn't feed the narrative any better. Which is mainly bc at this point it isn't really a narrative... it's the sad reality.

While I was told yianni was a done deal, things change. Was super excited

now. Let me make this clear. I will suffer exactly ZERO JWar slander.

buchanan and ferrari? That’s 83% JWar. He was wrestling with them everyday. So I hope that practice continues, because despite what some of you dingleberries think, that’s a huge advantage and huge piece of development that PSU (and now okiest) has.

JWar is going to be a ridiculously good coach. His history/downfalls and acknowledgment of them (Why am I like this ?!) has made him into a coach that can access athletes in a different way.

no MJ syndrome, he’s going to connect with guys and get them to improve.

JWar feels like a head coach. I don’t know what the “plan” is after TNT. But JWar as head coach is good one. He’s gregarious, calm, pretty dang smart and hell, worked for bobbynic this past year, so maybe we’ll be able to keep Bobby’s bucks if he’s the head guy.

Tom is Tom. This is certainly not what most of us wanted - but it’s a GREAT hire.

It had to be somebody loyal to Brands that didn't wrestle with urgency or have scrambling skills. It couldn't be a guy with any national titles. It had to be somebody who stayed in the bubble so as not to be polluted with outside ideas. It checks all the boxes if Tom Brands is sick of waiting around to be fired and just wants to get it over with.

I like Warner. If he’s the hire, I will support him 100%. It does seem like a choice I didn’t see coming

Ho hum, He will get the same result calling recruits that Bobby did. Want to pay him to be a workout partner, do it through HWC. If this is the best TnT can do, we will fall farther behind PSU, Ok State, and Nebraska, and I can't believe I'm saying that.

JWar is a student of the sport. And Tom - to his credit, really focused a lot this year on "play" wrestling.

Tom and Terry have done a MUCH better job of leading from the front in terms of recruiting. For as good as Morningstar is purported to be... He ain't a name. He does a great job at the "job" of recruiting.

But TNT are still names in the sport, kids know them. We need success, we need chips. Period. Otherwise, yeah. We're battling for a trophy every year.

I have little doubt that Warner is going to be a fine coach if his heart wants that, but I was really hoping this hire could be somebody from outside the Hawkeye family with more of a scrambling pedigree. I wouldn't consider it a downgrade but perhaps just more of the same.

What makes you think this ? In college had limited offense, couldn't pull the trigger at times. Was a good hype man.
Decent guy? Check, Loyal ? Check.
Is he going to help us again on those above us? I don't see it. Is he going to impress recruits? I don't see it.

Buchanan and Ferrari. Check the man's product. While Ferrari is pretty hesitant. He always has been, so not much is probably going to change there.

I get the worry that because Warner had limited offense and didn't pull the trigger, that he's going to do the same as a coach. And i'm just saying he's not. He was able to analyze that pretty well and doesn't want his guys to feel the same way he did, not wrestle the same way he did.

Is he going to impress recruits? That depends on how the heavyweights continue to progress. Casey Cunningham isn't some "name" - but the quality of the upperweights in PSU has been stupendous with every one of them saying Casey is the reason. Warner is going to have to get guys chips.

Yup. That's coaching.

Because outside of Carl, who "did" that? Certainly not Cody Sanderson. Certainly not Casey Cunningham. Damn sure not Jake Varner.

So spare me that bullsht as if ALL of PSUs staff were bonus pointers themselves in college.
Who said that "spare me" line? Just you it appears. Thanks.

So by vhsalum's logic... Buchanan and Fast Red Car were products of Warner but not of Telford? That logic checks all the boxes of a person tied to TnT's hip.

They were. He wrestled with them everyday. Like I said. 83%.

Look I get it. We're the 4th best team in the country. And this isn't some splash hire. But Warner was and is going to be fantastic. I think he's going to connect with these really well and we will see improvements in action and activity.

No. but your sarcastic response of "do what I say, not what I do" is absolutely nonsensical.

I mean hell. TNT were absolute attacking hellions, and that hasn't seem to translate. My point is that your point is just wrong.

Coaching requires coaching, not necessarily a history of said actions.

First off my response wasn't sarcastic, it was straight on logical. Warner didn't do a lot of things but he's teaching people to do those things that he didn't do. Thus do as I say, not as I do. 100% accurate. Have a good day.
