Man I swear it was a reputable source at the time. I didn’t delete the post to wear my shame. That's BS and you know it. He donated it all to turning point.

The final four didn’t look ruined at all.NIL has ruined college athletics.
Not necessarily. I do not care where kids are from. We don't need mascots or warm stories. Then again, I am a TX born/raised Cat fan who found my way to UK before settling in Atlanta after college (but get back to LEX often and follow the basketball and football teams on the road some). While I love The Bluegrass, my loyalty is to us winning and not to talent geography.but if they didnt, he would have gone to unc or bama. and you would be saying....letting a local kid go to a competitor is a fireable offense.
Yeah, but CC isn’t a pg. It'll be an interesting few days, but I get the feeling Chandler told them 3m is the amount it would take for him to leave UK.You ask high in a negotiation and settle for a comfortable median for both parties. This is ongoing until you hear a formal announcement from Chandler that he is staying. Now that BYU is losing Wright, they may up the ante for Chandler.
Nah, don't do that. Everyone and their mother loved the roster as Pope was signing these guys. Everyone here wanted Jasper.Giving Jasper Johnson $1.5M last year and losing Braylon Mullins as a result should be a fireable offense!
100% this.but if they didnt, he would have gone to unc or bama. and you would be saying....letting a local kid go to a competitor is a fireable offense.
Chandler is waiting to see who is added at his position.Yeah, but CC isn’t a pg. It'll be an interesting few days, but I get the feeling Chandler told them 3m is the amount it would take for him to leave UK.
I really think Chandler has the same mindset Moreno has. But, I could be way off on this.
Yeah, I'm sure he wants a starting spot, but I'm not sure he's getting that at any high end program.Chandler is waiting to see who is added at his position.
If it's someone he has doubts he can beat out, he'll hit the portal.
and the reality is....every year there are going to be portal winners and losers. 2 years kansas and indiana "killed" the portal but had bad years, teams were a mess and did poorly. they spent massive amounts of money. last year it was us. next year someone else will whiff.100% this.
Not one single person on here had a negative thing to say about the roster, aside from "these guys aren't great shooters, but they'll improve in Mark's system".
If Pope signed Mullins and let JJ go, OMG, the crying about not getting the local kid, would have been unbearable.
The team was broken, Mullins would have sucked here this year, everything just went belly up.
Oh yeah, when you construct an entirely new team, you're rolling the dice on so many things. Yeah, on paper, they might fit, but like we saw this year, if they don't fit, you're in deep trouble.and the reality is....every year there are going to be portal winners and losers. 2 years kansas and indiana "killed" the portal but had bad years, teams were a mess and did poorly. they spent massive amounts of money. last year it was us. next year someone else will whiff.
but every year is a chance to take another swing at it. if pope fails....so be it. but i dont get the constant negatively and hypocrisy (not by you) by the fans base who cant even get through 1 day in the portal without complaining about.....well everything.
I am not claiming to be Nostradamus, but it is also not my job to evaluate talent. Hindsight gives us the ability to issue a report card. JJ over Mullins is an F now that the season has ended. Despite "The Shot", he had a solid season (12 PTS on 42.1%/33.5%/88.9% 3.5 REB 1.4 AST as a Freshman playing 28.3 minutes per game on a team that made the Championship game. Above his stats, the kid is gritty and all hustle and projected to be a potential mid-to-late lottery pick in stacked draftNah, don't do that. Everyone and their mother loved the roster as Pope was signing these guys. Everyone here wanted Jasper.
Trying to act like anyone knew Jasper was going to suck and Mullins would hit a 30 footer to sink duke, is ridiculous.
If Mullins didn’t hit that shot, nobody even talks about him and Pope certainly didn't know Mullins would hit that shot back in April 2025.
I'm totally fine with CC leaving or staying.Yeah, I'm sure he wants a starting spot, but I'm not sure he's getting that at any high end program.
He’s a huge liability on defense. He gets put in an isolation situation way too often.
Yeah, but nobody could predict these two players would play the way they did.I am not claiming to be Nostradamus, but it is also not my job to evaluate talent. At the time, I would have likely done the same. However, I would also own up to having not evaluated talent well enough to assemble a product worthy of the "name on the front of the jersey".
I hope he stays. In the right offense, he could get a ton of open threes.I'm totally fine with CC leaving or staying.
Really don't like the dynamics of playing at UK and supposedly keeping a wife happy
She should be here with him like it in KY or not.
Honestly hope he's the last Mormon kid Pope brings to UK.
The wife angle is annoying the hell out of me. Your husband, the breadwinner, makes millions playing basketball in Lexington, KY. Why is his wife in Utah? Nothing makes that necessary.I'm totally fine with CC leaving or staying.

That’s using hindsight.Giving Jasper Johnson $1.5M last year and losing Braylon Mullins as a result should be a fireable offense!
Understood and I have not debated it to be hindsight (heck, I sure was not upset at the time we signed JJ). However, when issuing an end-of-season report card, that is a failing grade (put it under Talent Evaluation 401).That’s using hindsight.
If Pope would let a “Kentucky boy” “get away” to UNC in favor of a “white guy from Indiana,” this board would have lost its collective mind.
The truth sets you free. Being free feels good. How is this post helpful?
I totally understood what you meant in your original comment.Because Dedan Thomas is not a mid-major player. Unless, you believe SEC basketball is the same as the MAC or WCC.
Honestly, that's probably the quickest way to become a contender again. We just need to save money and not spend anything next year so a new coach can come in and have a boat load of money to work with after next year.
Correct and who would've thought that half of the top 10 SG wouldn't be what we thought they would be. 1,2,3,6,7 are the only ones who did something.Yeah, but nobody could predict these two players would play the way they did.
Pope did the right thing by landing the local kid, who was a 5*.
There are a lot of things to critisize Pope for, this isn’t one of them.
The average age on this board is late 50s to early 60s. Tiktok might blow their mind.
