It’s kind of funny the coaches that are doing pretty good don’t have any crazy buyouts, but Pope with 0 tournament wins got a buyout from the jump. Just another example of the horrendous contracts.
Yea, nobody was going after Pope (except our braindead AD) and this was his dream job. No reason to give a buyout other than it's just standard procedure. UK had the leverage with Pope and could've told him you're unproven so we're offering a low salary and no buyout and we're putting that money towards NIL until you can prove your worth. But our AD is an out of touch, tone deaf, cranky old man that should've been fired years ago.

Until he leaves it is only smoke. I’m hoping he goes after Edwards who decommitted from Tennessee. A 6’3” Forward, she would look great beside Strack and the other 3 McDonalds All Americans. Then we have 4 great players for the next 3 years

And it’s because Mitch is a narcissist. He’s got all the traits he’s got the signs. Thinks everything does is perfect, thinks he’s morally superior, he doesn’t understand the flaws in his routines, values himself over the good of the many, values his self perceived loyalty over what is required (this is the reason for the contracts and buyouts), goes to war with anyone who questions him, likely has narcissistic rage as you can get a glimpse of during his press conference when normal questions were asked and he was questioned. Must get his on way even when it’s obvious to everyone he can’t make the call (passing and blocking Calipari / pear). He won’t accept responsibility for any decisions gone south and makes the same mistakes constantly because he thinks he can’t screw up. His self righteous act and being seen as better than everyone else, and delusional thinking of his work….

Mitch does / has all the signs of NPD. I’d be very surpised if he didn’t have it.

I know people care about the Ladies basketball program, but imo TAKE ALL THAT MONEY and put towards mens bball and football.
Give the Ladies a good facility, great scholarships and pay very little to the coach. I just cannot watch more than 3 mins of it.

IT HAS ALWAYS been so dang top heavy. The upsets just never happen on the reg, and teams get blown out SO MUCH. Until there is parity - no thanks.

I totally agree, unfortunately. They were just now talking on KSR how Tennessee is basically abandoning their historic womens basketball program to use the money for NIL basketball, football and baseball. In this day and age to compete I say we should do the same.

Meh considering the recruits and university support (which helps with the recruiting), he should be doing much better.

We're spending more money on women's basketball than most. Yet sweet 16 is the ceiling.
He’s going to have us a final four contender starting next season from now on. They need to keep him and give him whatever he needs to get the best of the best. He’s the real deal. My opinion of course.

Add a big time starter at the point and a great forward and we’re in the final four. I’m thinking that’s exactly what he’s going to try to do.

Since Mitch was getting crucified when some you thought Brook's was leaving does he get any credit since he is now staying?

I give more credit to UVA’s reported offer of less money and less program funding being the reason Brooks stayed.

That said, Mitch did make a good hire in Brooks and is committed to funding a winning WBB program.

I never said I thought he was leaving and pretty much called everyone an idiot for wanting him to. I said match plus whatever he wants to stay here. I don’t think I’ve ever gave an opinion on Mitch since I’ve been here, 2008 by the way! It’s cool though, lots of people here and we can’t remember all of them. lol. Actually I’m ok with Mitch but he has a tough job to keep everyone happy and has made a few mistakes, he’s also made some great things happen here to. Anyway. Thanks

I didn't actually mean to quote you with this. You were just the last post and I erred. Sorry, my bad.

We don’t know that was the reason. Kentucky is an SEC SCHOOL and has as much or more money than anyone else. We also have top of the line facilities and the best fans in the world. I don’t find it hard to believe Kenny and his family has fell in love with Lexington and this state. He has said he loves it here but it doesn’t really matter now, he’s leading the Cats and I couldn’t be more happy. I hope he stays ten years and turns Kentucky into a powerhouse.

He already had more support than all but maybe uconn, sc, and UT. How much more does he need to get us past the sweet 16?

Whatever it takes. It’s not taking anything away from any other program so what does it matter. Kentucky has the money and Women’s College basketball is a hot deal right now. I get not everyone cares but a lot of fans do and I’m one of them. I think he’s going to do big things here.

Is it a revenue positive?

The only two revenue positive sports that most universities have are football and men’s basketball.

Football produces more revenue than basketball even at UK.

Should we cut some funding to men’s basketball because it is currently performing so poorly?

Every SEC school and most colleges have a women’s basketball program.

So, if we’re going to be in it, why not try winning at it?

If we make the sweet 16 absolutely. Even if we don’t and fill up Memorial and have a few big games at Rupp with some good crowds, absolutely a positive. The ticket sales alone for a top ten women’s team would make big money, let alone every other way they make money. I don’t know bud, I just want Kentucky to have some kind of winner, Brooks gives the girls a chance to be top ten.
