Why would any one expect us to be listed in a top twenty five when we're not keeping players and not bringing players in? Maybe it should be based on the strength of our mascot and returning ball boys?

I mean we have 1 player currently incoming for next year that’s a 4*. I wouldn’t rate us top 50 at the moment. Let’s wait to see if Pope can actually recruit in the portal.

On a more serious note, has anyone looked at last year's preseason poll? It is VERY interesting with Purdue, Houston, Florida, UConn, St Johns, Duke, Michigan, BYU, Kentucky, and Texas Tech making up the top 10! Arizona was 13 and Illinois was 17.

My conclusion as I look at the entire poll is this: Being ranked in the Top 25 is a good indicator that a team is going to have a pretty good season and be in the running. Of course, a few teams will drop out by the end of the season just as we did.

Yeah preseason rankings are actually a better indictator of success than the last poll of the season.

Humans get worse at this stuff as the season goes on. I think it's mostly because humans tend to follow the whole win = move up, lose = move down thing.

They either ignore or don't completely factor things like where the game was played or margin of victory, both of which are very important things among others to consider.

It is too early to even post a "Way to Early" with the portal just officially opening. At least let the Zoom meetings start (btw, teams should generate revenue by signing portal sponsorship contracts with Zoom, MS Teams, Google Meet, etc.).

DUKESPN is just irresponsibly fishing for clicks.

Optimistically: They can't know that without a roster to compare..... Realistically: They are probably right with Pope leading the Cats!

These used to be complete waste of time and energy pre-portal. Now they are even worse because half of D1 doesn't even have a half a roster.

Why would they? Mean we were the ninth seed in the SEC tournament. We’ve lost everyone.. even if we get a couple guys back, we’re gonna have to put together a roster using the transfer portal. It’s just not all that strong. Honestly, we’re not even a tournament team at this point and with this coach.

I can understand if anyone cancels their Disney subscription but because ESPN did not have us in the preseason top 25 is about the biggest childish thing I have ever read. If you in good faith actually think we will be a top 25 preseason team, I have no words to describe your logic. We have lost most of our team to the portal, we still have Pope, and unless I am missing something, when did Pope become a recruiter and good coach.
