Michigan built their team entirely through the portal in basically an offseason. Time to get to work.

Howard’s natural position is SG. I’ve seen a lot of him and he’s going to be really good. He’s 6’4 which is perfect size for a SG but undersized for a 3
Sorry I thought a read a while back he was an undersized sf. That’s going to put Duke between 6’-1 to 6’5” in the back court depending on who returns . If Duke lands another big in the portal does khamenia move to the sf spot ?

Just saw a post on Twitter that the starters for the championship are 7 seniors, 2 juniors, 0 sophomores and only 1 freshman. When will Jon eventually listen? Unless we pick up some big time portal players, our team next year looks average to me.

Michigan only starts 2 seniors, 2 junior’s and a sophomore. UCONN starts 1 freshman , two seniors and 2 juniors .
that’s Four seniors, four juniors , a sophomore and a freshman .
Michigan’s starting five are all transfers except for Burnett. May gambled on the portal and it paid off. Hurley retained some players and it paid off. We always talk about the Duke effect and it’s a two way theme . Players are either auditioning for the league or their next college destination. If I would say one think that Jon does need to change is once again the production from the non-starters. These last two years imo this is what has killed Duke in the crunch .

Thanks for clarifying. Guess I should do more research before posting😅.

We had an almost perfect roster if Coward had stayed. Having a junior Foster helped but not when he's injured and shaky at the free throw line. Having a senior Foster would be even better but him shooting 50-60% at the line isn't going to cut it. Will be a time next year where even though he's a senior, we might not be able to play him later in games because of his free throws.

Oh you’re good . I just thought it might have been off after watching college game day yesterday . Another things as fans we have to look at is exactly how many portal guys are fine with the bench and how many want to start . Mullins didn’t start the season for UCONN but he starts now and hate them or like them Hurley and UCONN will have played in three NC games in the last four years . That’s impressive given the state of college ball .

Think we need to keep 2/4 of Pat, Sarr, Cayden and Evans. We likely won't. If we lose 3 need to hit a home run in the portal.

I know we've had a ton of success, but If the talent that has come through Duke since 2017 had instead gone to unc, Kentucky, or Kansas... and they have zero titles to show for it? I would bet a hefty amount we'd be laughing at them. We have a little argument with this team due to injuries, but it's still a pattern.

I think the problem is K, and now Jon, get so reliant on the superstar. I think Jon needs to tweak his offensive approach some. Sure, it looks good in December through February that our stud dominates the opposing teams, and is in the running for POY. But then March comes around, there is no tomorrow, and we see what happens. Not every year, but enough to draw a conclusion.

Danny Hurley is a sore name to bring up. I get it, he's a jerk, clown... But he runs a system, and one that multiple guys get the opportunity to make plays. And this is like swallowing barb wire, they make them.

Whatever decision that will be made, I hope they're made early. Can't stand the waiting process and because of that, we miss out on certain players

What's the odds we keep Cayden and Caleb with Rippey coming in? I have no idea, just asking.

I’d lay them right now at 50/50. Both can play off the ball and Rippey coming in as the main pg would allow for two ball handlers which worked really good in 2010 and 15. If I’m Scheyer I start with both of them , Nic for sure and seeing what Pat and Sarr are going to do .

Yes, he did. I was more so talking about the bond Scheyer has with both guys. The Belief and Trust he shown both of them is similar. Proctor and Foster are two of his first Point Guard Recruits.

Proctor left for the nba because he was ready and wanted to move on, otherwise he would have came back.

Foster isn’t ready for the nba. If Foster wanted to transfer out, it would have been more likely he would have left after his sophomore season when he was receiving a lot of criticism, but he stayed the course.

I’ll be very surprised if Foster doesn’t finish his collegiate playing career a Blue Devil.

On one hand, it's hard to be disappointed with winning 35 games the last two years. On the other hand, it sure would be nice to have a couple veterans capable of scoring 10+ points a game, and us not pissing our pants in excitement if they do. Nothing against Ryan Young, Theo John, or even Maliq Brown (I know he was good on defense), but these guys brought very little on offense.

If we're honest, how many of us trusted a lot of our guys to have the ball in their hands late in the game? If you're like me, you're talking to the tv saying "get it to Cam!!" In my opinion, that has to change.

To be fair, if Coward came Duke is likely playing tonight with a good chance to win it all. I think Jon should have recognized him staying in the draft was at worst 50 50 and maybe pivoted to another solid portal option. Instead, he went Sarr, who was the defensive catalyst but a raw offensive player.

Last year, James gave you that, but he was inserted into the starting lineup and Gillis just didn't have much of an impact.

I think this year, he's likely going to go heavy portal since there's no incoming or returning star to build around.

Duke is not that far away from a title. As I've said the Cooper year we seemed to have the right mix. I complained last summer when we could have gotten older and instead we added Sarr and Wilkens. I thought we were too young and was surprised we did as good as we did. But it seems like FF/EE is our ceiling with what we've been doing. I'd rather make the sweet 16 with an experienced team than lose in the elite eight with yet another young team. But these things are not guaranteed either. It's hard to win a title.

Proctor (his Freshman season) had shown the ability to make plays once he adjusted to the college game. Both Proctor and Sion had been real good for the majority of the 2024-2025 season. They just couldn’t capitalize in the Final minutes of the collapse to Houston.

you’ve alluded to it before that Duke was playing not to lose instead of playing to win and I agree.

it seems like in both ncaa tournament losses of 2025 and 2026, “the fear of failure” overcame the Blue Devils.

Won't be watching tonight, but hoping UConn wins. Don't hate me but I'm a former Big East alum. Plus it's nice to say you lost to the champs. Tired of the ESPN guys saying how unbeatable Michigan is. Plus the Fab 5 will be there.

Oh heck no. There’s no way I could pull for Dan Hurley’s team. If he wins this game that’s three championships in four years. I sure don’t want to see him pass the GOAT. That’s all we will be hearing about from the media.

Cut me some slack guys I'm.a former Big East graduate. I hate both teams. At least Hurley didn't go Jason Vorhees like the Michigan football coach.

Like you Chris, but I just can’t see how you can say this, especially given our history with them. Never should any die hard Duke fan want UConn to win, unless they’re playing the holes.

Even then, I’d pull for UConn with my nose plugged.

Plus, if Michigan wins, we can at least say we beat them.

I'd pull for the meteor if uconn and the cheats meet in a national title game.
