I've said this for probably 3 years now. Always felt like he wanted to be out west. Didn't think he'd take Kentucky. Didn't think he'd take UNC.

He's had an amazing run at Arizona, and probably has the resources to compete every year.
Maybe he'd consider Gonzaga.
Maybe if he wants the historic blue blood, he goes to UCLA.

But he was never crossing the Mississippi River.

Donovan's last year at Florida was a rebuilding year but prior to that he was constantly in the Elite Eight and made the Final Four in 2014 with a team that should have beaten UConn.

Well you seem to think the Pacific Northwest is the same as Tucson Arizona.

I can tell you that Chapel Hill is a lot more like where Tommy Lloyd lived most of his life than Tucson is.

I mean every journalist who has commented on the job has said UNC is a top 3 job in college basketball, with some rating it the number 1 job.

But I suppose it's personal preference for each coach to make that decision.

I can tell you two things that the UNC job has over Arizona:
1. More money
2. It doesn't have the Arizona athletic director Lloyd hates

“UNC fans are just now realizing that they can’t get any coach they want”? It’s probably because of Mitch Barnhart. Don’t worry, once North Carolina gets rid of Barnhart, they will get anybody they want. That’s how it works because that’s how it worked 15+ years ago.

I was born, raised, and lived the first 30 years of my life in Virginia, which is topographically similar to NC with the mountains, Piedmont and the Tidewater regions, and steeped in history. When I moved to upper East TN and lived for 26 years before retiring to south Florida, we spent a lot of time in WNC, hiking, and sampling all of the offerings of the Asheville and Boone areas a couple of times a month.
