Maybe they can lure Carmody out of retirement to take the program to the next level!Collins sucks. I knew this was going to happen. The program is cooked under his leadership.
Why don’t you have your big shot friends that talk to Jackson donate the $1.2M he will get from the B1G 12 team that tampered with him?Collins sucks. I knew this was going to happen. The program is cooked under his leadership.
I mean, in this market he’s worth that or more. If we can’t pay that, then he’s not gonna stay. There are dozens of teams who can and will pay that for his talent. Why don’t you have your big shot friends that talk to Jackson donate the $1.2M he will get from the B1G 12 team that tampered with him?
If I was CCC I would get the **** out of NU. Until they realize this is basically professional sports and you can’t win with a Pittsburgh Pirates salary outflow going against the likes of the LA Dodgers, you will never be a consistent winner. You think Skenes will stay with the Pirates any longer than he has too? We have to at least get to the Baltimore Orioles to make a run.I like Collins a lot but his seat definitely just got warmer. He can cool it off with a good portal performance but this is potentially catastrophic.
Exactly. Either commit the funding to athletics or move to an Ivy League.I mean, in this market he’s worth that or more. If we can’t pay that, then he’s not gonna stay. There are dozens of teams who can and will pay that for his talent.

NU alum are probably as wealthy on a per capita basis as any P4 program. Surely, we can beat the bushes and get donations to be competitive. They have no problem building up the endowment.
To me, this is a clear case of tampering, blaming Collins is ludicrous. You could have Danny Hurley here and he couldn’t build a consistent winner with these obstacles. NU is sunk until they make a decision to go all in. Don’t care who the Coach is.
No, we aren’t sure it’s about money, but I feel it is very likely. The rumors were out there 3 weeks ago with very high numbers being rumored from a few prominent B1G 12 programs.I know NU isn't spending at the top of the conference but it's not like they don't spend money at all, and Singleton was the potential face of the program going forward. Do we even know that this is over money?
Our problem is not “per capita”; it’s not enough “capita”.If I was CCC I would get the **** out of NU. This isn’t a Collins problem. It’s a money issue that he can’t influence. His seat isn’t warmer, but the odds of him leaving to go to another school in the near future increase each time this happens. And it’s going to happen more and more now that NIL has grown very quickly each offseason.I like Collins a lot but his seat definitely just got warmer. He can cool it off with a good portal performance but this is potentially catastrophic.
Nick isn’t sniffing the NBA lol. And his agent and he knew that before this year.Meh, if Nick has NBA talent it wouldn't have mattered if he took a big paycheck to be the third or fourth option on a better paying team. He spent his last year getting a lot of experience and a ton of media attention being successful as the primary option. If he's got what it takes, he'll get his shot because of his last year at NU, not in spite of it.
If the lesson Tre took away is chase a bigger paycheck for a smaller roll on a team of mercenaries, he wasn't paying attention. But we don't know what it's all really about. Maybe we will someday soon. Maybe not.
He’ll get some looks. Don’t underestimate him.Nick isn’t sniffing the NBA lol. And his agent and he knew that before this year.
I would've thought the same thing. But he was getting solid sniffs even before this season.Nick isn’t sniffing the NBA lol. And his agent and he knew that before this year.
I probably misunderstood your post then. You probably meant that he skipped the biggest paycheck his talent and ability would ever earn by playing the year at NU.Nick isn’t sniffing the NBA lol. And his agent and he knew that before this year.
Tre is a good player now that will get better. This is a significant loss. Let’s not replace with the typical 6’4 shooting guard from the Ivy league or a mid major.Yeah, TheC, losing Tre is really bad in the sense that he could have been developed into a decent player with another year or two.
Who knows, maybe he realized he doesn't have what it takes to be the main guy and is moving on to a place with a bigger paycheck where he only has to be an ok third or fourth option. It worked for Kopp and Nance. Well, it worked out for Nance. I've lost track of Kopp.
When are you ever going to learn that most players in the two revenue sports don’t give a **** about the NU degree when they can make high 6 figure and in Singleton’s case low 7 figure income as a 19 year old. This guy will make more in the next decade than you will in your career. Who is the ******* moron?Singleton is a ******* moron. He’s going bag chase, when he comes from an upper middle class family not short on cash. He’s blowing an NU degree, when he’s not close to NBA material, and will be making $75,000 in Europe in a few years riding a bus for 8 hours. Good riddance, *****.
He started as a Freshman in the B1G. He will be a really good player somewhere.I guess I'm in the minority here, but I actually think he can and will be replaced, but because from what I saw he wasn't going to be a great player, only a good one. As someone said above, he wasn't an "All Freshmen" pick. I saw about 12 ppg next year and we can probably find that. That said it's clearly bad for the program because he probably was the best talent we had on board for now.
A freshman starter for us is not good / won’t be in the future? Examples please. That a guy started for us is not in and of itself a measure of how good he is or will be. Reid started for us too and no one thinks he's going to be a really good player next year.
Singleton struck me as a player with top-flight defensive potential who needed to work on his shooting, especially from the perimeter. If he becomes a decent scorer and an all-conference caliber defender that's a hugely valuable player even if not a "star" in the conventional sense.I guess I'm in the minority here, but I actually think he can and will be replaced, but because from what I saw he wasn't going to be a great player, only a good one. As someone said above, he wasn't an "All Freshmen" pick. I saw about 12 ppg next year and we can probably find that. Well, given I’ve made more than 7 already I guess not? Idiot. Also, he is not getting low 7. He’s a potential player not more at this point. And still a moron like you! When are you ever going to learn that most players in the two revenue sports don’t give a **** about the NU degree when they can make high 6 figure and in Singleton’s case low 7 figure income as a 19 year old. I mean, given they pay $3500 per seat in the WC for 6 seats and donate a ton on top of that…But will he make more than Baz’s definitely real big donor buddies? I mean, those absolutely not made-up guys have NU degrees and it’s worked out well for them. They’re so rich they have the AD’s ear and can single handedly provide the funds to keep a key roster piece here for the next year years if needed! (Ah shoot I just realized something…)
We are talking about Reid. My opinion is Tre is going to be a really good player. Your opinion is obviously different. I’ll take 4 year starters in my program any day of the week. That a guy started for us is not in and of itself a measure of how good he is or will be. Reid started for us too and no one thinks he's going to be a really good player next year.
This is where I am at as well. This is clearly not a good thing but I don’t think it’s catastrophic. Singleton is not an elite athlete and he can’t shoot. I’m sure his shooting will improve but I don’t think it will ever get to serviceable (I could be wrong). He could be a very good defender and rebounder, which is not nothing, but I don’t see him being anywhere close to all big material. And for those saying this is sour grapes, I have thought this all season.I guess I'm in the minority here, but I actually think he can and will be replaced, but because from what I saw he wasn't going to be a great player, only a good one. As someone said above, he wasn't an "All Freshmen" pick. I saw about 12 ppg next year and we can probably find that.
