Mine was Hall in 1975. Had just started college
Me too. I was alive but too young to remember Rupp being replaced and all of that. Not really sure what year I started actually caring but it was bred into me. So, as soon as I could! My first visit to Rupp was the UKIT after we won a national championship. I think it was Texas A&M that beat us on our court, in our tournament and when they were horrid. Broke my heart but I did meet some legends that night! I remember thinking they were all giants, even Macy, but not huge. I was probably 4'6" or somethin! Lol!!Mine was Hall in 1975. I fogged out during the BCG days - tough to get excited about that coachPitino is who I grew up on but BCG was the coach that was here during the height of my fandom. My first coaching search. It was amazing times.
Had moved to the state when my Dad transferred for an IBM job. First game in person was first game in Rupp. Had to have the brown BarcaLounger at center court explained to me lolAdolph freaking Rupp.
And the first 2 games I saw were both losses . Issels last game against Jacksonville and Gilmore, then the following year when we lost to Western Kentucky and Jim McDaniels.
Listened a lot to Cawood - loved that voice - fell in love with the Cats and still catch most gamesJoe B Hall about 1975.
My mom would listen to the games on a small transistor radio on the kitchen table…Cawood Ledford. I was only 5 but because my mom was so intensely involved in every game I knew it was something very important.
I never stood a chance and I love Kentucky Basketball like it’s a living relative.

I feel truly blessed to have heard him many a game even though it wasn't very many. I still blame Laettner for him hanging it up- lol.Joe B. In 1975. I don’t know how many radios I went through with Cawood’s call.
I now live in Rock Hill . Went to grad school at NCSU 83-85. Loved ValvanoWhen I was a kid in Lexington, just starting to play basketball at the local YMCA (shout out Coach Rick,) Sutton had just gotten fired and UK basketball was in a very dark place. Which is basically how I ended up a Tar Heel fan before we ever moved to North Carolina.
