Mitch would've been a great AD for the olympic sports that take money from the university. But only football and men's basketball make money for the school. He failed miserably in those two sports. Outside of a 5 year run with Cal, basketball has been substandard. Football was only marginally better but a lot of that was when schools went to a 12 game schedule and another cupcake was added. We also benefitted from being in the East and the majority of Stoops' tenure UT, USCe, Vandy, Florida and Mizzou were down. Now that those schools hired better coaches they've been kicking our tails again.

Worst AD in UK history. Absolutely destroyed everything this school was about. He drove a wedge between the fans and the programs, ruined fan expierience at all these games, made horrible contract deals, embarrassed the university several times and both major sports are in the tank and in as bad of shape as they’ve ever been. Just a complete disaster. Don’t tell Matt Jones any of this stuff though.

Lbs for lbs Mitch is far and away the worst AD in Kentucky history. He’s had the most recourses and produced the least. He was given 90’s UK, which was on top of all programs, and reduced it to what we see. Retaining Tubby, Gillispie, Pope, blocking Calipari, blocking Pearl, restricting NIL.

He couldn’t have been a worse AD for a school known for dominance in one sport. In the end there are only TWO sports that matter and that your job as an AD is defined by. He was downright pathetic in our biggest, and mid at best in the other. The fact that this man was allowed to stay at UK 24 years is the craziest thing I’ve seen in collegiate sport administration.

I haven’t read all of the posts bashing MB . One thing I did not find in the scores of post in this thread and others was the fact he kept Joker one year too long simply because they had become buddies. We used to be 70,000 strong before that and he ran off twenty thousand fans . Saved face by remodeling the stadium to sixty thousand . At the time I calculated that decision costing us twenty thousand fans was a net loss of between 20 and thirty million.
Maybe the posters here are too young to remember . In today’s dollars that was probably a loss of about forty million.
