No, actually that's not true. Cal already had a rift with Nike over K and Duke. That's why we skipped the PK80 tournament
K was the face of USA basketball. That's why. Cal made some remarks about a commercial K had done to Jim Boheim and he went right to K with it. K froze Cal out with Nike. After that, our Nike help almost completely stopped.

No, we actually played in another tournament that season. That’s when WWW started to stray away from the program and then Duke started getting all the big time recruits.

Shoe companies have never been a factor in college decisions. That was garbage started by schools like lville because they always lost out on recruits to schools like us who were with Nike. It’s tin foil hat type stuff. This year included.

Shoe companies have long made decisions of the groups of schools a kid would go to. The circuit they play on almost always leads them to a school who they sponsor. It comes down to the coaches relationships with the specific AAU team, but they have steered players for decades now.

Kansas is remote? Lawrence is a Kansas City exurb. KC metro is 2.2 million people.
I’ve seen the same on several stupid Facebook post but not sure I buy it. But I do think stokes ends up at Kansas regardless of the number. Has felt like Kansas for awhile now ever since the stokes to UK lock cooled off.
I'm fully aware Cal snubbed the PK80. It certainly appears to have been a huge misstep. This guy is saying we were in a different tournament that year is what is in question here. Do you know? Was there a Vegas tournament? I see where we played consecutive games at T-Mobile would that be it? I guess the next question would be whether we were committed to that before the PK80 invite?
Searching this info is confusing as I'm seeing multiple years which doesn't make a lot of sense since it was denoting his 80th birthday but does explain my confusion on this if it was in fact held multiple years. I guess the original PK80 was 2017? The first PK80 I saw links for was 2019.

One of the questions I have with regards to Stokes is, if he doesn't want to go to UK, why has he narrowed his list down to UK and KU? Surely other schools wanted him.
It’s just odd that he's turning his nose up at us, but we're in his final 2 AND he has had plenty of time to just commit to Kansas.

Do we actually know if he truly ever said he didn't want to go to UK? It would have been very easy to just strike UK from the list so it makes little sense to believe that to be the case.
I just keep hearing media members say he really doesn't want to go to UK. Heck, UK is offering a lot more money and he’s still hesitating, that's not good.
Because we're offering the biggest bag, and he's trying to drive up the offer from Kansas. Negotiation 101.
