So our “best” assistant coming in and our top recruiter are now leaving. Seems like the ship is sinking. To be fair I don’t think we really game planned well and we certainly didn’t recruit, but this doesn’t seem good in the grand scheme of things.
Looks like Pelphrey and Ford are coming home my guys look.

I’m not a believer in Pope scapegoating guys. So I doubt they were politely told to leave. They left on their own. They can read the tea leaves and leaving before the crapshow begins. Next year is probably going to be bad. Really bad. Everyone is acting excited for a top 150 recruit. It would be fine if this was first year Pope looking for the future. but Williams is not going to be a contributor next year. And if he is, we’re really f*cked.

It's really annoying for a program like Kentucky to do all these half measures for money reasons. If we sign new assistants won't they have buyouts when we fire Pope? And if we're only offering one year then we won't get anyone good.

I think Pope hired two guys who were good recruiters when recruiting was about recruitment, and now recruiting has changed, and the good recruiters may not be good recruiters any more, and those once-good recruiters are getting shown the door. Ya dig?

Great hire for Ky & BBN. he knows the Ohio Valley Hoop scene as well as anyone Ky could bring in. Was first coach to offer many Ky & Tennessee High School stars which means he has street cred with the AAU Circuits.
