So mostly Pope fanatics who spent weeks and months insulting anyone for thinking this guy simply isn’t going to work out are complaining about anyone to decides to fight back. You can’t go insulting people and accusing them of crap while simultaneously complaining about others doing the same thing.

As for Pope himself, the man is a public figure and is making more money in a year than most of us will make in a lifetime. If people want to question his ability or insult him, they have every right to.

You are absolutely correct.
Man can't recruit, yet 247Sports lists Kentucky as having the sixth best recruiting class in the country just last season (portal+high school), 7th in high school and 5th in transfer portal. I'd disregard it though --- 247Sports is probably a Pope-pumping organization.

He can’t recruit a lick, just because he recruited one decent big man and an overrated guard from Kentucky means squat. I can list 30 different players who are better that he recruited that he is whiffed on every single one of them.
Just because he stocked up on 8 top 200 transfers means nothing. He got maybe 2 impact transfers and the rest were bench players. The ones he got that could impact games winning at a high level were hurt. Oh he got JQ! Yay. He overpaid him 2 million dollars to come sit on the bench. What a recruiter!

I don’t need my opinion, just because they ranked it that way preseason, did it turn out to be that kind of class? Nope, 14 losses. Yet every single player we led or were in the top 2 on that went somewhere else had a massive impact. That isn’t a coincidence. We spent like 12 million more dollars than the average sweet 16 roster and didn’t get one single player who was better than their best players.
Did I say it turned out to be that kind of class? Or is there a slew of other elements that come into play? Scouting? Roster construction? Misevalution? Injuries? Etc etc. Top 10 high school class, top 5 portal class. Don’t get angry at me. Get angry at those biased folks who study “RECRUITING” for a living.
Is this not a little skewed by the fact he happened to have two instate guys that were top 30 recruits in Jasper and Moreno? He has Hawthorne. That’s his only high school recruit from out state. I would not describe him as a good recruiter at all.
No. I don’t think 247 or Rivals should exclude anyone who is in-state for recruitment, particularly when they were heavily recruited by other schools. Not all of them were even Kentucky fans in high school to begin with.

Then don’t. But that top 5 or top 2 portal class is still staring at us directly in the face. There were plenty of teams who essentially tooled an entire roster and still didn’t outperform Kentucky in that area. People will try to fold and bend the truth however they see fit but facts are facts. Worst recruiter on earth as many say was top ten in both areas of recruiting. Seems lazy to me and avoids answering the bigger questions about what actually happened with the 2026 Kentucky Wildcats. Especially when you think about what the teams we lost to had in comparison.
