Does Hart to SMU take Dink Pate away from UK?

We werent getting pate either way lol
Count me as one who would like to understand how coach can recruit a player, Pate or Stokes and do so with a clear conscience or are they truly recruiting them to UK?
I am old school all the way and don't give a damn who doesn't like it. I earned my stripes
But no one can tell me this coach didn't have one foot out the door while coaching this team and recruiting these kids.

If he wants to play at Kentucky, he will be here if he wants a bunch of money he may be gone somewhere else
Why would he be able to pull players in now. I couldn’t see SMU out spending us if Pope wants him.
Hart only had a two year contract I believe, have to look back, but I think KSR reported that earlier in the year. Until a reliable verified source says who made the choice to either not offer an extension or to decline signing an offered extension, it's hard to say there was any malice involved. I think 3 other assistants had 2 year contracts as well.
People don’t realize how sleazy a lot of coaches can be because the overwhelming majority of people are decent and their circle is decent. So we expect everyone to be similar to us.
Having had a son go through college sports at a lower level it is amazing how coaches lie to kids to get them to come. To the coach they are just “doing their job” but for many kids (especially kids not going P4), these decisions are very impactful. My son had so many friends/acquaintance/teammates that were misled at best if not flat out lied to it is hard to fathom.
Pate was doing what all the smart players are/ have been doing, using the UK name/ brand for $$$ leverage at the actual programs they are really interested in.

SMU invented paying players. A lot of money down there.
I wonder if Hart got the job because he could bring over studs like BG. That would be hilarious.
I wish the whole team would follow him to SMU. Let's be honest, they all sucked.
I think he definitely gets Pate. I think the biggest problem is it severely damages our chances with Stokes. I thought we had the lead when word of Self's status leaked out, now, the door is back open for Kansas. And you'd better keep an eye on Arkansas
Hart coached Pate. Right? SMU likely has the NIL to land Pate. I would think Dink be gone, if Dink was ever here to begin with.
While we hope a lot of these players leave, the replacements may very well be worse. If Pope keeps replacing our assistant coaches with BYU rejects, I have to imagine we’ll recruit like them too. And not like the current BYU, but the old Pope BYU. Man couldn’t even get better than 2 2nd and 2 5th places in the WCC of all conferences. Imagine how bad it’ll be in the SEC.
This would be a good move for both parties. He would thrive at SMU IMO. He has more than enough talent for high D1 but is... respectfully... an idiot. Less pressure to perform at a championship level day in and day out should help him out a lot.
Good for UK because he's not a UK level player. He has the talent to be, but his head isn't there, and the Dope ain't gonna be the one to fix him.

No team should have any interest in BG. He’s a head case nut job with zero upside. I hope he’s already packed his bags and hit the road.
His move to smu isn't nearly as much of a downgrade as people like Jones suggest. Massive nil capability. Nice area. He'll land more recruits there than here under our current circumstances.

SMU was an 11 seed that is losing its three best players to graduation.
Garrison is that guy that plays good & you think he's arrived & then comes the next game, he plays lazy as ****, then the next game, lazy as ****, nah, let SMU deal with that inconsistent ****, we can find someone better than him in the portal.
I like Garrison...actually more than Moreno. One has fight in him the other has Charmin .One of them isn't so scared that he just wants to get rid of the ball ,even though he's wide open .One of them will at least keep the defense honest and launch a three every now and then. I've got a lot more but will let it ride .
At this point we may not even be able to get Burger King kids, we may be relegated to Sonic Drive Thrus
