I think people for the most part are worried. For 15 years, we always had one of the top ranked classes in the country and now the program is striking out on all of the main kids they recruit.

You’re wrong about Chuck Hayes. He was an all American in high school. Was Mr Basketball in California and picked Uk over Kansas back then.
Plus it's not like Pope has killed it in the portal either. We miss out on top targets there also.

At this point his best options are to find a few assistants that are known for player development. He’s not going to recruit like we are all used to, so that would be his best strategy. Find guys with potential that fit his system and mold them into fitting his style of play. I still don’t see that being good enough here, but that’s his best strategy to win at this point.

Guaranteed starting 5 & playing time was a Cal problem - ask Reed & Dilly?
DJ Waggoner- Bryce Hopkins etc.
Win your starting spot or sub as needed.
No player will honestly embrace the “backup“ roll out of HS , especially a former Pro’s kid⭐️

I'd rather have him than Jasper Johnson. Go back and watch the Jasper Johnson games, you can tell the games he gave his all and the games he didnt and the didnt games are far far more than the did games.

One of the most ignorant, uninformed posts I've read.

"Beyond the top 10 there’s usually not a difference in talent between 25-100." Yeah...
Are you kidding me you've made at least 10 posts worse than that since you've been on board

Is the people who gave this player 4 stars the same people that gave us all those 4 and 5 star players at UK these last few years?

His dad was a good player and could score
Can't see him playing for anyone but his dad, so hire his dad too
Haha, his dad is a better coach and recruiter than Pope! Pope could be Mo’s “analytics” guy!

He’s doing something right cuz he has good stats and really good shooting splits
I wasn’t really trying to knock him…I agree that his shot looks real nice. I was just making an observation, in his clips he looks kinda slow for a PG …unlike his dad who I recall being blazing fast.

I don’t think anyone is really trying to knock Williams, just that we don’t see pope being able to develop him. Kid has potential
If the kid has the desire, he will improve on his own
Don't need a coach to get in the gym and shoot hundreds of shots each day and do ball handling drills

What was Yaxel Lendeborg ranked coming out of highschool? He wasn't ranked. What was Walter Clayton Jr ranked? He was a 3 star.
I understand that not every 4 star is going to suck I get that we have had our share over the years of good 2 star, 3 star , and 4 star players. You have 2 things that come into play when recruiting these lower ranked players.

1) Finding the diamond in the rough.
2) Can the coach develop the kid into a good basketball player.

My answer is we have a basketball coach that really sucks at both things I listed above!

How many stars was Anthony Epps? This young man is a nice looking player. Reminds me of Tanner at Vandy. Beautiful shooting stroke. Love to have Mo on our staff too.
