there's a long way to go til November. But right now, anybody who can't feel the momentum caused by affordability, inflation, ICE, oil, war, shifting to democrats isn't being honest with themselves. Just my opinion
The issue here is that we need to avoid the lunatic fringe on the left taking advantage of this opportunity and taking over. We need enough moderate-leaning people to officially tell fascist MAGAt to eff off, so that we can establish a large enough moderate core that takes over and leads the way, telling both extremes to go fly a kite.
We don't need to waste energy on celebrating trans v. demonizing trans, or fighting about books in schools, or any of that other bullsh!t that only whackos from either side think is a very important national issue. We need someone who is going to reinstall competent individuals in leadership positions of the government, and build the decimated agencies back up in a way that reestablishes credibility, but isn't over-reaching. In the interim, we need to embarrass MAGAt so thoroughly that they don't dare show their faces again. And hold them fully responsible for any criminal actions they've undertaken during their reign of trolling stupidity.

False. Everything changes. Your environment also largely dictates your ideals. The Bill Clinton of 1992 would not be promoting the same platform as the Bill Clinton of 2026 (controlling for the aging process, of course). We've seen this same lame claim regarding JFK ... "oh, JFK would be a Republican today." No, if he had grown up in today's world, he almost assuredly would have adopted more liberal/progressive policies (viewed in today's terms) than he ended up developing growing up when he actually did.
This is the most important distinction between progressives and conservatives ... conservatives want to battle against the natural state of things - that everything must change. It must progress, regress or just otherwise shift in some way. Progressives want to push the envelope, and sometimes they push the wrong way, or they push too fast. It's up to the reasonable people to control the two groups ... pull the dead weight of the conservatives along with the changes and away from their regression, and slow down/redirect those trying to change everything (sometimes done just for change's sake).
