And there it is. His first step into his transformation in Calipari where he turns defensive and starts blaming media and fans.

SMH. These next 12 months are going to be a dumpster fire. It should be entertaining though. In a circus type way.

Famous people are oblivious. Newly famous people more so. Yes Mark, very few random strangers are going to approach you to **** on you. That's reality. What they say behind your back is another story. It's way more than 1% at this point, my friend. Keep living in a delusion if you prefer but it won't end well for you.

unfortunately that makes him sound like he lives in the same bubble as Barnhart

that said, he isn't an idiot, if you are getting boo'd mercilessly at Rupp mid season, you know its not 1%

but I suspect he was coached to some extent about what to say, to put doubt in the fanbase that is vocal against him that maybe they really are the minority

We see that on here many times -- people claiming the voices hear do not represent BBN. Its intended to take the wind out of your sails, albeit temporarily

If we was waiting to play this Thursday for a chance at E8 I would be more excited and willing to watch Mark try again. You cant blow that much money on a team and get embarrassed in second round. Problem is the management and leadership in the athletic department is so terrible that nobody's held accountable. Did anyone hug Mark after the game and make sure his feelings wasn't hurt will us fans just shake our heads and say another March Madness without advancing past 1st weekend.

I don't think it is fair to call him dishonest based on any of this. Schedule and injuries definitely matter. In the 5 seasons with a schedule rating above 11 (average of 11.7) pre Pope we won 100 and lost 58 for 63.3% which is almost dead on Pope's 63.5% with an average schedule difficulty rating of (13.3).

This would be a logical conclusion if Alabama and Florida (and Auburn last year) didn't exist during the same period with the same schedules, but with much better results.

I also think it's very disingenuous to go 4 years back when his argument falls apart if he goes 3 or 5. This doesn't even include the 2010-2019 run that Calipari had.

The more Pope talks the more I realize he is out of touch. He may have his statistics reversed....

He supposedly knew the assignment. The VAST majority of UK fans are not happy with being a middle of the road SEC team. They expect championships. They know you don't win them every year but you have to at least be in the running.

To add to a shortage of elite talent, along with injuries this team never had good chemistry. After the UL game a good coach could have handled the locker room situation, put an end to it and moved on. Instead, it festered for the rest of the season. The team never looked happy to be on the floor. Energy level was low. Can we hope that next year's team doesn't have this problem, that it was a once in a decade problem of personality clashes? Or will it continue under this coach. I'm hoping for the best. But preparing for the worst.

I’ve never witnessed a coach more out of touch with reality. Cal knew he sucked the last five years and hated his boss. The writing was on the wall. Pope has managed to accomplish distain for him in two years. His teams have done nothing that he sold us on. In his press conference he said his teams would keep coming and coming and coming and never quit. When you play UK you will have to earn a victory. Under Pope I’ve never witnessed a UK team lay down and quit more than a Pope coached team.
Iowa State players expected UK to quit and they were right.
