They have been sent to play at UConn 4 times in the last 11 years. They also faced them a 5th time in those 11 years, but that was in the national championship game, so it doesn't count as being put in UConn's bracket.

I think the one seeds are so far above the field right now that you’re in a tough position as a 4/5 no matter who you draw, but I get it. I don’t doubt we’ll be in the socar bracket against at some point soon

Would love to have 1-4 or some such get a first round bye
Not to reward them but to just give the 16 seeds a freaking chance to win 1 game
Top seeds in women's game today are unbeatable for 16 seeds. The games are dumb
PS. It would screw up the math-but something along these lines lol

I am convinced that the influencers behind WBB (ESPN, NCAA etc) are still more concerned about building an audience for the sport than any sort of fairness. Now having said that, I still think the current format is about as good as you can get. If you are not in UCONN’s bracket pick your own poison, USC, UCLA, TX. The real issue is that the sport is dominated by a handful of teams and it is extremely difficult for anyone else to join that group. If a school wants to join that group they are going to have to spend a lot of money.

No offense to Syracuse and they might not have gotten that beaten that bad but they weren’t beating any of the other ones seeds. The weird thing that women’s basketball to me based on the games yesterday is there’s plenty of parity between say like team 8 and team 30. But then it’s a big step up to the two seeds and then it’s another big step up to the one seeds and then apparently it’s another step up to UConn, which is like UNC used to be in women’s soccer before 2012 or UCLA in the wooden days

my guess is that there aren’t that many elite front court players and the top few teams get them. While the number of excellent guards is more distributed.

The NCAA has a seeding policy that they try to keep teams close to home as much as is possible. So yeah, Cuse is going to draw UConn more so than UCLA or Texas.

this is pretty important for mid-majors and lower, finically speaking.

UNC is in the same boat. We have drawn the #1 overall seed as a 4 or a 5 something like 4 times in recent years. Because we are close to UofSC and I guess UConn.

this is not always immediately evident because there are so many teams coming from 4 conferences and keeping them out of each others direct path is a higher priority. But it does mean that when you match outside of your conference it is usually a local team, often an OOC rival.

Well, as my coaches use to tell me. You have to line up and play bottom line. Just be glad that you made it to the big dance. There are a lot of teams who did not make it and are now playing in the NIT. I really do not see the problem. Long time ago both of these teams use to be in the Big East Conference and they played each other a lot. This is how I see it. Syracuse is playing in a P5 conference. You have money to get top level talent to come in. You just have to do a better job of recruiting. Also, your team was a veteran team with a lot of seasoned players from the portal. UCONN played to their standard and they just took it to you like all good teams are suppose to do. It is not their fault that they have better talent. One thing for sure is that when you play UCONN, you better be ready or you are going to get blown out.

Absolutely not. If they cant win then they can't win. It was said for men's game that it was impossible as well until it happened.
