Idk why people keep saying this as if he didn't recruit Clayton did he notRight! Fact is, he had a cheat code last year, in Clayton. Hell, anyone could’ve coached that team to a title.

In the days of NIL what the difference in schools besides money? They have had more success last few years than us. This whole “We areHe would kill it here. Florida is a football school
Yes he has had a chance and embarrassed the school many times. Hell even Iowa said they knew they’d quit.Have you really given Pope a fair chance though? Most if not all the coaches on everyone’s list would have been fired by their standards in the first few seasons.
Yes you could be right. But could you imagine the type of team he might have if he had 22m to work with? That would be a reason it could be a great marriage. In the days of NIL what the difference in schools besides money? They have had more success last few years than us. This whole “We are
Kentucky that’s why” is dead. Now it’s touch money.
That isn’t close to the same thing. Ollie had no other success. Ollie didn’t take a program in the bottom half of the modern SEC, double his wins in year 2, win a title in year 3, and bring a 1 seed back out the next season. Ollie was given a good program, a basketball program, and went 20-15 the year after his average season luck run. Golden didn’t have a luck run, he was steady and built fast and continued to have good teams. None of these comparison make any sense.Kevin Ollie
These statements are just unbelievable. Have you not read what has been shown? No they wouldn’t have been fired if their situation was here. No. And the coaches people keep bringing up make no sense in comparison. Pope has a LONG COACHING RECORD this is not his first rodeo. He’s running this program, a blue blood with more resources than anyone, like a damn joke. He’s no good pay attention look at recruiting look at his history look how awful his teams play.Have you really given Pope a fair chance though? Most if not all the coaches on everyone’s list would have been fired by their standards in the first few seasons.

Let's see, bad play by UK players is Pope's fault, bad play by UF players is players fault. Got it.Can't really put that loss on Golden I mean the idiot missed a free throw to make it a 3 point game, they left the Iowa dude completely by himself for the winning 3 and then had enough time to still get a winning bucket and the guy dribbles into traffic and they don't even get a shot. Sometimes players just choke and don't execute. That was as bad a last minute as I've ever seen that was elementary stuff
Probably more based on W-L record. This ESPN article suggested that UF dismissed the complaint not because the substantive claims were unfounded but rather because they occured outside of the jurisdictional purview of Title IX:
"ESPN on Monday obtained a copy of a letter that the university sent to a female complainant. According to the letter, the Title IX coordinator determined there was no evidence to indicate that sexual harassment 'occurred within a university program or activity,' and that is why the school had to dismiss the complaint. The letter noted that the complaint was initiated after the university received an anonymous report that 'named multiple potentially impacted persons.'"
See, no matter who the coach is, soon as he looses a game a bunch of you will be wanting to fire him. That is all.![]()
I’d love to know the secret to that. How does a coach or mentor create the context in which he can shred a dude without breaking him or damaging the relationship?Example; yesterday at halftime of the ST. Johns- Kansas game, as the teams were walking off the floor Pitino was chewing one of his players ***. He was inches from his face and was blistering him. The player listened until Pitino was finished and, looking Pitino in the eye, acknowledged that Pitino was right. Then as they finished their walk into the locker room, the player put his arm on Pitinos shoulder and patted his back.
Why not ask for Red Auerbach, the chance of Red being our next coach has about the same odds as Bruce Pearl coming to Lexington. Bruce seems tired and has more money than he can spend. I don't think he would take any college coaching job for any amount of money. I actually don't think Bruce would be a fit for us because he would NEVER recruit or coach against his son.Take him over Pope but I rather have Pearl for 5 good years
Seth Greenberg was brutal in his critique of that play. He even talked about players in gradeschool being taught to stay between the ball and the basket. I was cracking up!He was certainly clueless on that last play ,, Did you see him with the coaches in their huddle? They simply looked confused as to what to do. So they chose not to do anything.
How do you give up a wide open three in 5 seconds? Coaching malpractice
This reminded me of a post game interview with Pitino(Ejiofor standing next to him) as he talks to the reporter. Rick says something like “if you don’t want to be coached hard, I’m probably not the coach for you.” Then he turned to Ejiofor and said, “I hardly ever have to yell at this guy but when I do it’s intentional so the other guys can see how he takes it and he takes it really well”.I’d love to know the secret to that. How does a coach or mentor create the context in which he can shred a dude without breaking him or damaging the relationship?
Sounds like UNC message board wish-casting to me.saw yesterday that Golden was odds on favorite to replace Hubert Davis. I think its unlikely due to buyout and other considerations (specifically that UNC doesn't like to hire asshats)
but another name on that list of potential candidates really bothers me.
Brad Stevens.
If UK could have had Brad Stevens, then I have a new level of dislike for Barnhart.
I thought that as well, but the betting site actually has him as the third most likely candidate. I guess at this point its all conjecture anywaysBrad Stevens is never coming back to college. I don’t know why he keeps showing up on lists. Wishful thinking??
Golden does have detractors
Stevens has actually become the leader apparently by Kalshi
And yet he won the SEC Championship this year despite that.I don’t think Golden is the best option for UK, never have. Golden caught lighting in a bottle last year with the best player in college basketball. We all knew his guards weren’t good enough this year.
In his 3 years at San Fran and his 4 years at Florida, Golden has 1 NC and 1 tournament win before or after last year. Personally, I hope he does get hired by either UNC or KU but not UK.If all you ever get out of Golden is a great regular season and he ALWAYS fails in the tournament, then maybe there's reason to not want him on the coaching end. But as of now, as a coach, I'd take him.
Golden actually coaches. He noticed a shortcoming of his team being 3 point shooting. They were 29% in the non conference and finished conference closer to 40% by working extra in practice and getting better shots. I don’t know of one thing UK improved with all year. And yet he won the SEC Championship this year despite that.
