Louisville vs Alabama

I don’t know what to think about this game because I have not seen Alabama play. When I look at their schedule and see their game results it is a mixed bag. They have some games where they played good and some games where they looked bad.

Started out 14-0, but they have gone 10-10 since with almost all of those games in the SEC. If the Cards can cure their sometimes crooked shooting, we should advance.

A back and forth 1st quarter Cards up by 1. Both teams playing hard defense Cards had a 7 point lead and Alabama hit two 3 pointers. Going to be a tough game.

We can’t let Bama open on the 3 pointers because they can knock them down. We are really cold not hitting anything close in or outside.

Tied 30-30 3:08 left in the half we have to do better recognizing the 3 point shooters because they can knock them down. We have cut off anything down low for Alabama.

I would rather give Alabama 2 pointers instead of all the 3 pointers they are hitting. That’s what is keeping them in the game.

Alabama up by 1 at the half we aren’t getting anything from Berry or Scott. Like I said numerous times on this thread shutdown the 3 point shooting and force them to go inside of the arc.

Where Alabama is tough is that they do have athletic guards who can drive it to the basket and finish. Combine that with what they’re showing from the 3pt line and that makes them tough to defend.

Where they leave a little to be desired is in terms of half court defense. As you said, we need a big second half from Berry and Scott to outscore the Tide.

Roberts is hot right now she is burning the nets, unfortunately still nothing from Scott of Berry. Zeigler and Elif are having good games. If we could get Berry and Scott involved to contribute we would be in good shape.

Cards by 1 2 seconds left Scott at the foul line and she misses the first and missed both but Cards survive and win by 1.

Zeigler in tears on advancing that is why she came to Louisville was the chance to play in the tournament and advance.

Scott did a GREAT job missing that second free throw on purpose (while making sure to hit the rim) so that Alabama would have to rebound the ball and shoot a very difficult shot.

Have to admit, that 3 pointer by Karly Weathers was an absurdly good shot.

We did not play a good game today and it wasn’t because of the opposition it was us. We better get ready and play better against Michigan. I have seen them play several times this year and they hit a lot of 3’s and they have a good trapping defense.

They force the guards to go diwn the sideline and not up the middle setting up the trap. CJW needs to get the players ready for their trap. He needs to have our guards bring the ball up court in the middle of the court. We also need to prepare to pass over their press and attack the basket. Go Cards.

You are right on Scott missing the second free throw. That prevented Bama from setting up a play and getting a better shot.

Wow! What a game! I haven't been able to watch the ladies much the last month. I don't remember that Scott girl playing that much. I do think that we need the girls to 'hit those free throws' as it shouldn't have been a one point game. They will need to against a tough Michigan team. Good game and praise to Coach Walz and staff to get to the next step.

Scott did miss the second one intentionally, but our free throw shooting was horrible today. That’s what made the game close and nearly cost us the game. Survive and move on!
