OK. Golden is off the list.

Maybe so. But, it is still confirmation that Golden is not the golden child many claim he is. He matched our tournament record this year with a far better team and playing a low seed while we played a high seed. It couldn't happen to a nicer guy! :ROFLMAO:
He also whipped us three times.

3 years at San Fran - One tounament, round of 64

4 years at Florida - NIT, Round of 64, NC, Round of 32

Winning a title is always impressive but will he be another Tubby Smith?
I don’t know if you guys are aware of this, but it’s difficult to win championships. It’s even more difficult to win multiple championships. I would settle for a coach a who can win One.

I get that. But, the fanbase was ready for Hall to go after his title. This board was calling for Tubby's head even before his last 2 seasons (he did have some strong supporters). Cal's last 4 years were brutal.

It isn't just winning the title, it is making deep runs in the tournament and making FF's. Golden has only had one run in the tournament and he did win the title that year. I don't think the majority on this board would be happy with that.

he's a jerk, he has a temper, UF in an internal investigation found sexual harassment claims against him unfounded, but this is also the alma mater of Aaron Hernandez

Does UK really want that?
Sure. Let’s keep the good guy cuck we have.

selling your honor for wins means both are short lived.
In the world of high stakes college athletics...I'm cool with it.

UK has employed...
-Rupp
-Pitino
-Cal

I'm not sure any of those are going to win any morality contests...But they all won nattys, and I'm not sad about it.

seriously, you're going to put Rupp in there to defend your argument? wow

Pitino didn't fall from grace until after UK, or at least wasn't caught. He was capable of discretion.

Cal? there are no morality issues with Cal that I know of.

I think you are stretching to prove a point.

I'm not looking for a Saint as Coach, but its a bad path for your program to hire a guy that is on the way to being universally hated for his antics and not his coaching acumen

Golden is still a very good coach. He got this Florida team playing well this season, but in the tournament all it takes is one bad matchup or bad outside shooting night to go home. Lee and Fland played great on occasion, but they also struggled some this season. When they stepped away from the SEC, the flaws in their guard play and personnel became more evident.

Yes, Rupp. The entire college basketball world gets it. Except a section of BBN.

Pitino has always been slime.

I love the people that take a pi$$ at Golden but don't see the rules Cal bent and broke.

Point being...We aren't running a popularity contest. If we were, Pope would win a natty every year. As it is, he sucks and BBN is lower than I can remember it in my 50 yrs.

trashing Rupp to justify Golden.

if you think what I am talking about is a popularity contest or a purity check, its not, its coming from someone who was a fan in 1988

We won’t be laughing when he has UNC’s resources backing him! Remember that when it happens 😂
I'll quit supporting UNC if they hire a man who sexually harassed and stalked girls at UF.

I'm hoping his $16 million buyout is enough to turn off any moron at UNC who thinks we should still hire him.

I'm not trashing Rupp. Stop being so simple. IDGAF about Rupp and his views. He was a big time college basketball coach, not a social activist. That's the whole point. All the dude I listed had some serious flaws if you care to focus on them or identify them.

I’d take Golden in a heartbeat. Guys like him don’t grow on trees. Even the greats lose in the round of 32. Hurley did just a year ago. Pitino did in 1994. It happens. Golden is special.

Oh, I'm not thankful. We've already employed those guys. This will eventually get bad enough with Pope, we will be willing to play in that side of the sandbox again. At that point I'll be thankful that we hired a legit basketball coach and not this poser we have now.

Have you watched us play? Wins and losses are important but not even looking like you have practiced ia a real problem.
I have given Pope a chance. What I have seen from his whole body of work here makes me think that he would make a good cheerleader.
Example; yesterday at halftime of the ST. Johns- Kansas game, as the teams were walking off the floor Pitino was chewing one of his players ***. He was inches from his face and was blistering him. The player listened until Pitino was finished and, looking Pitino in the eye, acknowledged that Pitino was right. Then as they finished their walk into the locker room, the player put his arm on Pitinos shoulder and patted his back. RESPECT. I am not a Pitino fan but that man can coach and he can motivate players.
Players do not listen to Pope. It seems that they do not respect him. Some of them do what they want to do on the floor and it doesn't matter what Pope says, Jasper Johnson for one. Pope is a goofball. The players know it, the recruits know it. I hate to think that in my later years in life that this is the Kentucky team and coach I have to pull for. Makes me want to be a Vandy fan or an Arkansas fan. Pope is not the answer. Get him out.

You want another Coach K and as much as I hate Duke, K was very rare. I'd be happy to get an Izzo or a Self who can win a lot, get a title or two, and keep us relevant.

I'm not even sure it's doable to find an up and coming coach who can consistently perform in this new NIL/Portal era. Cal is the most devoted to that format and even he sh**s the bed sometimes.

I want the guy who coached the #9 seed and out coached and upset Golden and Florida.

Ben McCollum. 4 time JC champ. Worked his way up. Winner. 44 years old

Probably will not leave Iowa as I hear he’s an Iowan through and through. Sadly, UK’s tradition is not what it used to be.

To be honest, I guess I want a coach like Cal who always had a team that I believed could win it all. Even after the losing season, I wanted Cal to stay thinking that it was an anomaly given his track record. In fact, I never gave up on him until the loss to Oakland.

To this day I wonder what really happened? I get it. Coaches have bad seasons and yeah it is extremely hard to win a title. I was happy when we were contending but that has been a while...

Can't really put that loss on Golden I mean the idiot missed a free throw to make it a 3 point game, they left the Iowa dude completely by himself for the winning 3 and then had enough time to still get a winning bucket and the guy dribbles into traffic and they don't even get a shot. Sometimes players just choke and don't execute. That was as bad a last minute as I've ever seen that was elementary stuff

It was a bad loss and never should have came down to that ending. Florida had Iowa and Nebraska n their way to make the elite 8. Sorry, if Pope or especially Cal had a 1 seed with thar path and blew it, we would be giving them hell.

That said, would fire Pope and hire golden right now.

UF in an internal investigation found sexual harassment claims against him unfounded

This ESPN article suggested that UF dismissed the complaint not because the substantive claims were unfounded but rather because they occured outside of the jurisdictional purview of Title IX:

"ESPN on Monday obtained a copy of a letter that the university sent to a female complainant. According to the letter, the Title IX coordinator determined there was no evidence to indicate that sexual harassment 'occurred within a university program or activity,' and that is why the school had to dismiss the complaint. The letter noted that the complaint was initiated after the university received an anonymous report that 'named multiple potentially impacted persons.'"

Golden is not a good Christian family man. At Kentucky we value those things over winning.
You should probably rethink your priorities in life if you think a child's game is more important than how you serve Christ

that being said golden would be a great coach for UK. So would oats May or Lloyd

I'm not a Christian and I don't think religion should be a job criteria unless the job is in a church. I probably won't change my opinion about that...

He's off my list after his douche comments after they won. Compare that with how Bruce Pearl acted when his team beat us.
Golden's maturity isn't there and I doubt it'll ever be.
I don't want him here due to his douche-ness, but I'm still not convinced he's not a one hit wonder. Either way, even if Pope moved on, no to Golden. Let him chase co-eds somewhere else.
