OK. Golden is off the list.

I don’t need a coach who can’t lose.

I need a coach who can win.

Increasingly I’ll shout from every rooftop:

If you can bring in a coach who can do better than Pitino I’m all for it.

But until you do it’s absolutely the most idiot thing I’ve ever seen to have a top five all time coach absolutely pining away to coach here and here we’re pretending like it’s hard to find someone or we haven’t given Pope a fair chance.

Have you really given Pope a fair chance though? Most if not all the coaches on everyone’s list would have been fired by their standards in the first few seasons.

Either they didn’t do what he said do or he drew up a bad play. Four seconds and drive into a crowd snd not even get a shot up.

The money that Pope spent gave him more than a fair chance and he failed miserably.

My lord. This board. Whether or not he will win another at Florida is irrelevant. He took them from bottom to top and didn’t fast and convincingly. I don’t care that he was put out. The games don’t stop, he could go elite 8 next year. He could be there 7 more and have a title 2 title games 3 final four and an elite 8. He could only reach the sweet 16 in next 5 and that’s it. Doesn’t matter. He is FORTY YEARS OLD. He’s young as hell and he has a title at a football school. He dominates yearly right now. He would KILL IT at Kentucky most likely. He’s got what you look for.

Why do people do this? It’s a tournament. He’s still doing A+ at Florida. He’s primed for the job. If he doesn’t cut it here he’d do pretty well and be removed later. So what.

He’s got to prove to me he can do it with a different set of guys. He’s had a good group of guys together for 2 years. And the out of control antics will wear thin on players, fans and especially refs. He’s a pass for me till he proves more.

3 years at San Fran - One tounament, round of 64

4 years at Florida - NIT, Round of 64, NC, Round of 32

Winning a title is always impressive but will he be another Tubby Smith?
My guy he is FORTY YEARS OLD. he took Florida and they were trash, he’s got them dominating the hardest league in the country he’s already won a title and he just had them a 1 seed. Maybe he goes elite 8 or sweet 16 next year. Maybe he goes back to the final four in 2. Maybe titles aren’t easy to win and he’s done it. He’s at Florida he’s not 55 and sitting at Kansas.

I don’t get it. He’s obviously doing as good as you can possible do. It’s a tournament. He’s put Florida back on the national map. The guy is JUST getting started. His record at Florida is excellent. Look at them before he got there.

As I said maybe he doesn’t kill it the next 5 or maybe he goes 2 more final fours who knows. It’s a tournament. But Golden is proven at his age. He’s a great young coach who will likely get better. To think we need to give pope more time but the case is closed that Golden is just nothing is unbelievable. Looks like confirmation bias running crazy.

It's not like Golden went to the NIT this year. They were a one-seed. The tourney is random and he had them in a position to go far.
I mean what some of these guys are saying is beyond nuts. I’m sorry but yes, 👏 you are correct. Looks like some are just looking for anything they can to confirm the guy isn’t that good. He’s FORTY. 🤣 HES A MAN HES 40🥴

I want the guy who coached the #9 seed and out coached and upset Golden and Florida.

Ben McCollum. 4 time JC champ. Worked his way up. Winner. 44 years old

449-107 81%
I don’t know I think the list should be covering all the candidates qualified. Look at them all and go call. The one that wants it gets it. If that’s Golden or whoever. But to say Golden isn’t a great coach at 40 with his accomplishments is nuts. Then they say we need to see more of Pope. It’s absolutely batshit crazy.
