No. I don't want him associating with Mark Pope anymore than he has to. It only taints his reputation to do so.
Even Pat Riley couldn't turn this clown show around as long as Mark Pope is head coach.

What is Pitino's experience negotiating with agents? Is he good at $-valuing players to a budget? Not to my knowledge.
Pitino quits the Johnnies at the end of the year....and goes back to Beantown to erase the only blemish on his PROFESSIONAL resume (bc we all know there are plenty of blemishes and, ahem, "stains" on his PERSONAL resume, tee-hee) 
Would you care to explain what you believe the role of the GM is and why Pitino would be good at those duties.

A better scenario would have been Cal retiring and moving to a GM (recruiting closer / talent evaluation) role and bringing in a young hungry talented in game coach.

Absolutely not. I don’t want anything happening that could possibly keep Pope here longer than next year. Pitino being around might be good enough to do that.
A tandem of Cal as basketball GM and Pitino as the head coach would be quite the force.
We should have hired Pitino instead of Pope, Mark is not a winner. This is all on Mitch, thank God he won’t pick our next coach.
