Just crazy that millions of people in this country view this as not only acceptable behavior from the president, but praise it.

Trump/MAGA has destroyed the fabric of our country. He and his disgusting supporters will stop at nothing to ruin our country socially, economically, and globally. Their ultimate goal is to ruin the nation, and they are doing an excellent job.

Trump supporters are not Americans. They are not patriots. They are enemies of the state.

Japan is not only a beautiful country with a vibrant culture (visited a year ago), it’s a major ally. Making juvenile jokes - which will only embarrass us and anger some Japanese given ongoing WWII sensitivities - is simply not constructive diplomacy.

If Trump had confined his answer to simply noting that the element of surprise was critical to the bombing campaign, and that the U.S. wanted to be extra cautious about preserving that secrecy, it probably would have worked. (Although that would ring a bit hollow given that Trump administration employees were seen drinking and bragging at a D.C. restaurant about the impending strike by Mark Geragos. Remember that?)

But Trump just provided a classic example of how he blurts out, without any prior consideration, whatever random thoughts pop into his brain. The Japanese Prime Minister was sitting there, and a Japanese reporter asked him why Japan did not receive any advance notice of the attack. So Trump's thought process goes like this:

1. We wanted to the attack to be a surprise attack.
2. Wait! The room is full of Japs (the Prime Minster, the reporter who just asked that question, etc.)
3. Surprise Attack. Japanese people. ... Hey! Pearl Harbor!!
6. Why didn't the Japs tell ME about Pearl Harbor? Such a zinger. And funny.
7. You (meaning all Japs) believe in surprise much more than us (meaning all Americans)!
8. I win! Best (and funniest) president ever!

If he's lucky, the reports of his showing his YUGE cankles will shove this Pearl Harbor quote off the front page.

the man has no filter. You're right, all he needed to say was that we wanted to maintain the element of surprise

Its not like he brought up the the Rape of Nanking and other official policies in China causing millions of innocent deaths. Or, the forced prostitution of "comfort women". Or the slaughter of US prisoners/captive on Wake Island, and the general mistreatment of US and allied POWs and civilians throughout the war. Or the Battan Death March, or the Burma Death Railway. Or the vivisection and other ghoulish human torture under the guise of "medical experiments" conducted by unit 731.

It was a joke, unfiltered and somewhat tone deaf, for sure, but I think the japanese will be ok. And since we're largely over that other stuff (we let them off easy), they can get over a tasteless quip.

If not, maybe we could negotiate with China and South Korea and figure out how to split up their country..

Just joking.

All socialists. All need tampons. All ok with trans ideologies on kids. All ok with killing babies. Ok with rapists, murderers, assaulters being out back on the streets. All ok with defunding the police. All ok with open borders. I could go on and on. Think the “bottom of the gutter” comment reflects their ideologies.

So your only possible explanation for someone calling a classless, low brow, embarrassing (especially from the Commander in Chief) comment out is that it must be TDS? That tracks.
Geez man. You all are so dumb.

has it not occurred to you that WHO makes the comment matters just as much?

You and others here have been proven to have TDS. Therefore, if YOU make that comment, it’s easy to point to TDS.

I’m loving all the knuckle dragging dipshits calling me a socialist/liberal/etc bc I don’t get on my knees for everything the administration I VOTED 3 TIMES FOR does.

I critique every administration I’ve voted for, and I’ll continue doing it instead of just deep throating them at every turn, which seems to be your prerogative.

If you can read JHP’s posts and not come away thinking he’s a despicable person, then that says a lot about you personally.

I honestly couldn’t imagine what it would be like to live life as miserable as these lib freaks. They hate everything except taking d-.& in their a”$
Guys who are so insecure with their own sexuality that they have to run around calling everyone ph@ggs ... and who say they're too busy working to be literate, as they post all day, every day ... and who troll the board looking for cheap dates with guys ... now those guys are happy non-freaks.

Objectively, it wasn't funny. It was embarrassing. There was a premise there that could have been crafted into a decent joke, but Trump is too dumb to make it happen, and he butchered it entirely. But this is like in ancient times, when the Mad King said something, you had to laugh at it or you'd be thrown in the dungeon or decapitated. "Our lord has made a joke, we must all laugh now!"

Wut? Yo, Poindexter, he didn't quote me. Also, digging on the "proving" of something that doesn't exist. The concept of proving something that isn't real and/or didn't happen is probably the most MAGA thing ever. Might want to throttle back on those intelligence comments...
