Lol we whif on people when we have 11 players. Has any 11 players said they were gonna transfer. Moreno, Jasper, hawthorne, jelavic, williams, Chandler, garrison, MO D, Potter, lowe or noah has any said were gonna leave.

As long as Pope is our coach we will never sign a top talented recruit. If Duke or any other Blueblood is involved it's already over before it starts.

I mean yeah with the right guys it can definitely work. Need great passing bigs, great couple of shooters and guys who cut cut cut all game and actually work hard to get open. They’re out there and we just need to get them. Without the injury’s last year I honestly had high expectations for a big run.
Cayden will be back plus Rippey. Playing time might keep him away from Duke.
Not sure this guy would be better as a backup than Lowe.

I think we need another PG, for sure, even if Pope feels Liwe is the starter.
Gonzaga actually started it when Tommy Lloyd was an assistant there. Lloyd didn't want to wait for Few to retire.

Another good comparison is Dame Sarr as well. He competed in a little better league, the Spanish Liga ACB, averaging 5.8 PPG to Ellis' 8.1 PPG in Italy's Lega Basket A.
Sarr starts for Duke, but averages just 6.3 PPG.
If Lowe is the PG next season that’s a wrap. I find it odd, pope seems to love him some high volume low % PG. I thought he was some numbers genius? Ha raved and raved about kid that went to Cincinnati, went on and on last year about “finally landing him” and even told BBN “you’re welcome”. I went and looked and couldn’t understand what he was saying. Now Lowe is his guy?
Man I’m sorry I just think his 12 year no success history it telling at this point. It’s really bizarre, like he can’t evaluate worth a sht and goes after pieces that don’t fit at all. Lowe had awful offensive efficiency numbers and he thinks he’s the difference? Other posters have said it and I just don’t understand what they’re looking at.

It is truly amazing what Barnhart has done. And I mean it’s not something small, Barnhart is a walking disaster and the guy was able to remain for 24 years. It’s unbelievable. I’ve never seen anything like it in sports on any level. I thought Mozeliak was horrible (STL cards GM) but he landed great players he just wasn’t good at aspects like rebuilding and talent eval. Barnhart is bad at everything, literally everything about running a major program. He’s not here to win that’s obvious, I just think most AD’s job depends on advocating for their main sport, Barnhart has some kind of arrangement to sell it short and suck money away, or something. Absolutely right !! I suspect LLoyd will accept the Gonzaga coaching position when Few retires. It is my understanding that he did not sell his residence, in Spokane in anticipation of that return. That may not be correct, however.
Considering the EuroLeague is the top brand of bball in Europe, I don't find a $3mil asking price to be too far out of the realm of possibility for a young dude of his potential and current skill. Most players use that league as a stepping stone to the NBA, not college ball, so he is more than qualified to run a college team IMO.
He's been great playing against older guys already. $3 mil in todays landscape for a proven dude like him - against grown men at that, not college or HS kids - doesn't sound too crazy to me given the current wild west landscape coaches are navigating in the early parts of NIL.
I think he'd be an upgrade over Lowe even if Lowe were to somehow not be injured.
That said, screw Duke. Smdh

I get what you mean but given he's so young and doing well in the second best basketball league in the world, I just respectfully disagree.
I'm not even convinced but with all the figures I see thrown out for recruits nowadays the ask seems reasonable. He will only get better, and hes already servicable in Europe's best Pro League. A lot to like IMO.

It’s not the 2nd best league close to 8 or 9 as of 2025 and the site you look at they rank 4-9

Not many of the euro players have done that well. Illinois has had some luck, but most others were just average. The big guard that played for byu last year and the sarr guy at Duke this year were supposed to be stars, but weren't. Just like jelavic has been hit and miss

Ellis plays for Olympia Milano in Italy's top league - the Lega Basket Serie A - which is like the 5th best European league. Ellis has 7.8 PPG here.
The team also is in the Euroleague. Ellis has 8.1 PPG here.
Could you imagine overspending for this guy AND Dink Pate? I mean it could work out. But it could also fail so badly that it makes this season look like a joy.
