I've assumed for awhile that we would have several transfers out. This had to be a miserable season for a lot of guys. If the staff was planning on continuity being a strength next year, I am skeptical that will become reality.

I've had a feeling Chandler might transfer after the season, but that's not really based on any specific info.

The BS at ksr is deep. Anything for traffic and listeners. I doubt we're pursuing the Euro guard Pilgrim stated yesterday either. Absolutely no way anybody could know that much detail about who's returning at this time.

I mean… even if we did have guys stick around, how much of a strength would continuity actually be? We’re a freaking 7-seed.

Not much to go by when you consider the messenger— I just can’t take that guy seriously.

But if this is even close to accurate, I don’t see how any of these patient, smart! fans can defend this. If he can’t recruit good talent and he can’t retain mediocre talent to develop, wtf are we even doing. How is another year going to change anything?

On one hand this was the worst and least likeable (Stopped watching UK for years due to kids and career missed the 9/16 team) team I've seen so that's great news.

On the other hand this team was the best Pope could do with 22 million dollars so next season will likely be much worse.
That's my fear. Supposedly the staff was give a blank check to put together an elite team, and they failed even with that type of investment. I imagine that type of money won't be there next year.

We already know that we have a few bad apples in the bunch, now when they leave will the rest leave or stay is the question.
I think more stay then we think
Moreno - we need him to return
Chandler - can’t lose him
Lowe - Pope will keep 🤦
BG - Where else would he go? Stuck with him
Hawthorne - Already coming back
Potter - hopefully new team manager
Jelly - could leave
Noah - making money, he isn’t leaving
Williams - could draw attention in portal might leave

Mo - wants to start and will transfer
JJ - Just not the right fit, will transfer
JQ - Might never return to the State again
DA - Gone
OO - Gone

Pope over-prioritized continuity last offseason, which is why we wound up overpaying for BG and, as good as he’s been, probably Oweh too.

I don’t necessarily think that our recruiting budget will decrease, but I do think Pope’s strategy will change to be more like Will Stein’s. It has to. Otherwise this next season will be his last.

Oweh has been worth whatever he got. Without him, we would not have even made the NIT.

If JJ wants to be here (which I don't think he does and pretty much know for sure his family doesn't any longer), he'd have to actually buy in. Put in the work to gain weight, play defense, and stop forcing shots. Otherwise, he will continue to put up Travis Perry numbers regardless of the program or system he's in.

People will b*tch and blame Pope for something no matter how many guys stay or leave. No need to worry too much about the roster at all until all the portal action settles out.

and he says Brandon Hawthorne is included...

Hawthorne
Moreno
Chandler?

What do you think?
If Moreno or Chandler transfer it will speak volumes about the lack of desire to play for Pope. It will also confirm that his personality and/or lack of coaching ability/player development that many fans believe are problems are true.

I would love to have a 2nd year Moreno and JJ . I'm a " sell" on Chandler , cant get his shot off too often , doesnt do enough things well to be a legit FF 2 guard. Lowe and BG -- not a fan . As. I've said before I like Jelly , yes he def needs to toughen up , but i'd guess he learned that the hard way this year, but he has talent Mo is a No for me , not a FF type player , UNLESS its strictly a backup role and not 20-25 min a game . Must have a strong power forward if MM stays , hes not a big time banger , but hes really talented in many other ways . Just todays opinion among a thousand.

Stop and think. Why do players leave? Is it for any reason beside the coaching staff?

How u guys feel about Jasper Johnson coming back? I only want him back if he puts on at least 15 pounds of muscle in the off season. Great potential, but so weak with his handle and a poor defender.
He desperately needs tough coaching to completely change the way he plays. If he has the same "me" mentality going forward, then he won't help any team. He really needs to find someone who can help him mature. He has some talent but is the most frustrating player I've watched in a long time.
