And the majority of them shoot the 3 VERY wellThat worries the heck out of me too. They have good size, 6'4, 6'5", 6'7", 6'9" 6'10''

All there bigs can shoot the 3 and we haven’t defended wellI love our chances. Their leading scorer is a 6 4 guard and OO and Aberdeen will hold him down. UK played a much more tough competitive schedule. Way more physical and fast opponents. Higher level opponents have toughened UK. Team with a big chip.
We rely on 3 point shooting? Oh, I didn't know that. And we will have not played in 7 days. A wash
Like I said not a good matchup at all.
I watched them in their tournament . I thought they are a dangerous team. weare prime for the upset. Not the match up I wanted.
Is there a matchup out there this team wouldn't struggle with? Don't just stop at Santa Clara.I watched them in their tournament . I thought they are a dangerous team. weare prime for the upset. Not the match up I wanted.
Santa Clara is better than all those other teams.I don't understand the "Santa Clara is a bad draw" thing I keep reading.
We're a 7 seed. We have to play a 10 seed.
Option 1: Missouri (in St. Louis): Has beaten us once.
Option 2: Texas A&M: Has beaten us once
Option 3: UCF: Has wins over Kansas, BYU, and Texas Tech
Option 4: Santa Clara.
If you want to say "Santa Clara isn't easy." Yup. They're not. They're a 10 seed. There are no free wins when you're a 7 seed.
If you want to say Santa Clara was the worst draw, I don't know that I follow. We technically couldn't get either SEC team. But our options were 2 teams that have beaten us or a Big 12 teams with some amazing wins under their belt.
I think I'd take Santa Clara every time.
Why exactly? Who did they beat that’s scary? Or is it the losses they have to St Louis, Loyola Chicago, Arizona State or the 27 point loss to New Mexico that makes them better?Santa Clara is better than all those other teams.
I disagree. I would rather play them than UCF or Texas A&M. I don’t think Missouri is very good although we struggled with them twice.Santa Clara is better than all those other teams.
No kidding. Like I said Rafters will have this team equal to the Dream Team by mid weekWhy exactly? Who did they beat that’s scary? Or is it the losses they have to St Louis, Loyola Chicago, Arizona State or the 27 point loss to New Mexico that makes them better?
There’s a reason it opened -1.5 and is already bet up to -3.5.
Are you talking about the other three 10 seeds? I assume you are. We lost to Texas A@M; we split with Missouri and there is UCF. The reason I don’t like the match up is because they play very fast and they shoot a lot 3’s and we’re not a good perimeter defensive team.Which of thevother 3 seeds would have been a good match up?
Respectfully, what are we basing that on? Kenpom?Santa Clara is better than all those other teams.
Bingo.Santa Clara is rated higher on KP than the other three 10 seeds, but I'd rather play Santa Clara.
Yeah but honestly, I really don't want to lose to another mid major, that's very annoying and it’s happened too often these last 6 years.Bingo.
If you look at who they've beaten: Santa Clara's best wins and only tournament team wins are 2 wins over St. Mary's.
Mizzou beat us at home. They beat UT, Vandy, and Florida.
Texas A&M beat us by double digits. They beat Georgia and Texas.
UCF beat Kansas, BYU, and Texas Tech.
We weren't getting an easy or free win here. But If I got to pick from these 4 teams, give me the one who hasn't beaten anyone better than St. Mary's.
Maybe they beat us. But this is our best chance.
Also due to their lower talent level they also have a lower floor.Bingo.

Zags didn't have Braden Huff. HUGE differenceThey played 3 times against Gonzaga and did it much better than we did. I think Pope is 1-3 against Herb Sendek and Santa Clara while he was at BYU.
They are NOT a team that likes to drive and accumulate fouls so our limited bench should not be an issue if we play smart.
Big 'if' though
All bc of scheduleSanta Clara is rated higher on KP than the other three 10 seeds, but I'd rather play Santa Clara.
Zags didn't have arguable their best player in Braden Huff in a few matchups against SCU.I'll add:
People keep citing that Santa Clara played Gonzaga within single digits multiple times.
Get this. We played a far better team, Florida, within single digits 3 times. But when we do that, it's a moral victory. It doesn't mean anything. And like, I get it. This is Kentucky. Losing by single digits doesn't really count for anything.
But it sure as hell counts for more than losing to Gonzaga by single digits in a year when Gonzaga is a worse team.
And if we do, we weren’t beating any one of note.UK is not losing to Santa Clara. Good grief get ahold of yourselves
He’s lost to the 11th seed as a 6th seed twice apparently. But I also know since he’s been at Kentucky he’s always managed to win a gimme. Wouldn’t shock me if we lose but I kinda don’t expect it.I'm not so sure. When he was the six seed at BYU his last year there, he lost in the first round in an upset game.
Also factor in that we can't play Missouri or TAMU in the first round, so that leaves just UCF and Santa Clara.I don't understand the "Santa Clara is a bad draw" thing I keep reading.

Would bet my life savings you haven’t watched 10 min of Santa Clara all year, but thanks for the analysisLike I said not a good matchup at all.

This happens every year.Would bet my life savings you haven’t watched 10 min of Santa Clara all year, but thanks for the analysis
They're 34% as a team just like we are so which ones shoot it well? And the majority of them shoot the 3 VERY well
Shittt that’s where I’d be tooI mean denzel posted a tiktok of him and clara strack together in his dorm not long ago![]()
Yup & with the great coach cal leading the wayYeah but honestly, I really don't want to lose to another mid major, that's very annoying and it’s happened too often these last 6 years.
Obviously this is the best team we could have drawn on the 10 line. Popettes run screaming it’s a hard draw. Pope couldn’t have been more lucky. Hell I’m convinced the NCAA wants him at UK where we don’t go anywhere and is trying to find ways to get him to those sweet 16’s for extensions. I mean hell they’ve tried to alter negative sht for UK before.I don't understand the "Santa Clara is a bad draw" thing I keep reading.

This. It’s every year! This happens every year.
The bracket drops, and everyone has to go into "I know ball mode." Somehow a team whose only tournament caliber wins are vs St. Mary's is a bigger threat than 2 teams that have actually beaten us.
I'd be far more annoyed if I saw we had to play A&M opening round. (I realize the rules are supposed to prevent this from happening). But if I knew a team had already beaten us the 1 time we played them, I don't feel warm and fuzzy for that team.
But some people are like "Oh, but you don't know ball. Santa Clara is FAR more dangerous than Texas A&M."
