95% of us knew it was time for a change. Cal knew it was time for a change… that’s why he left. You see the years of Boston, Wheeler, and Wagner and stubbornness to leave Reed and Rob on the bench for Wagner put us in that headspace. But Cal is great at 2 things, getting NBA guards when they’re “it” to win, and being motivated when he has a Villain…. Our loud mouth entitlement is his motivation. But you have to shake his hand and realize he’s the ex that got on the shot, lost weight to make you jealous.
To add to that, we’ve missed 3 of our starters most of the year plus missed out on Wilkerson on the last hour and
Yaxel also at the end. We’re not far away with a coach that cares as much as we do. The blueprint is there. Maybe too much overcorrection from last year but it’s there. We just have to let it be built.

We are flat out cursed. We get screwed by refs with good teams. Our good coaches get lazy, and now we can not even sign a HS player because we have a ridiculously stupid Administration. Now we had to watch Cow finally get his *** off the couch and actually coach again for one season.

Three starters my ***. Kam was never a starter and JQ was always a midseason gamble that never worked out. Lowe was our only loss and it’s not like he would’ve been much better than Aberdeen.

And if Pope cares, maybe he should show it. He sure doesn’t act like he gives a sh*t about Kentucky.

This may be the dumbest thing I have ever read on here

you just spoke nothing but the TRUTH!!!!
Cal leaving was a win-win for both parties. It was past time for a change. The problem is that Mitch replaced Cal with a lackluster coach who was nowhere near qualified to take over the reins. Our AD replaced a veteran coach with a hyperbolic over-thinker who loses an average of 12 games a year. This season it will be 14 loses. Cal's success is not proof that he should have stayed at UK. It's proof that Mitch has consistently hurt UK basketball with bone-headed decisions that defy belief.

Man would I like to believe that ... He's gonna get one more shot, I reckon it won't take long to find out which way it's likely gonna go.

Season ticket holder since 02, have missed 1 sec tournament since 12. Recruits read and are told of how we burn everyone of these kids down. The 5% of entitled keyboard warriors that think we should be able to win all the dang time. I am BBN. Do I like how the last 5 years have went… heck no. But to read this board everyday and see how many GMs, Coaches, and ADs we have on here is amazing. You look at the facts of the team Pope thought he was getting this year and we were a title contender. Let the man get the pieces in place and learn how to finish a recruiting process. Duke still has Coach K in there behind the scenes before you start on that. Pope had 30 days last year and 2 recruits flip at last minute this year and a ton of injuries. Let him have a real year and we will make a realistic observation. I will say this, they’ve taken a beating from the 5% and they’ve never gave up. But, if he works out when he doesn’t have bad luck, please don’t jump on the 95% of no bitching.

I think you will find that just about everyone would like to see Coach Pope succeed here, but there has been nothing to show that he can/will. As Bill Purcell said, when some one shows you who they are - believe them.

I think Pope could be a decent-solid coach for a lower level Power 5 Conference team/one of the better Mid-Major ones.
He was decent at BYU (Pre the standards of them outspending pretty much everyone else in NIL money)
He's been a 3 Seed and likely a 7 in his two years now. Not quite the disaster that a lot of the fanbase currently makes him out to be.
Just seems to be a guy in way over his head who should have never been considered for this level of position with his resume.
