Those are better seasons than Popes first 2. Winning the sec and sec tournament is winning things that matter.

There was a time when this board was all gaga over Shaka. As I recall, he had a nice run in the tournament and many RR posters were salivating pretty much the way they are over Golden right now.
He’s terrible. Golden has done more than him in a fraction of the time. Both may have benefited from one or two good teams. We shall see. Golden appears to be a better coach overall so far.

I’ve never said he needed to land Stokes. That’s not the kinda player that he can even coach.
Pope won 3 games, all before Friday. Since Cal always played on Fridays, I just can’t say that means much. Not like it matters, Cal just infuriatingly won two games he hasn’t won at UK in a long time.
He may very well win tomorrow, but he was just as close to losing both games as well. He is gonna get a break eventually with that talent. Which would have been the only reason to keep him over knowing Pope would be the call.

Agreed, his performance at Arkansas hasn’t really been much different then popes at Kentucky, which is weird you say that though considering you want pope back so bad

Pitino put Walker on the bench because he thought the team was relying on Walker too much. MSU was also a Final Four team that year.
