These weirdos are killing our program. They hate Cal so much that they’re willing to allow Pope to destroy Kentucky basketball that they claim to love so much.

Maybe these idiots will be humbled if Cal wins the SECT? Piss them off to realize we are screwed if Pope stays any longer. It’ll only get worse next year.
The destroying started with Cal.

I can’t believe so many people hate Cal. He represented the university and team very well. The man is a good Catholic and had some bad years but no coach is perfect. Coach K and Self have been upset in the first rounds of the NCAA. Duke a 2 seed lost to Lehigh, Kansas lost to Bucknell. I don’t hate Cal, I don’t want him to win at Arkansas but some of yall act like he killed someone.
I don't hate him, just glad the ************ is gone

That won’t work, they think he is gonna turn into Phil Jackson over the summer and put together a team like the Monsters in space jam. Ignoring that not a single high school players wants to play for him and if we land Stokes it’s because some millionaire in Lexington needed a tax write off and paid him 7 million.
BOOM! Right here ^ I called this. For all the people saying I was wrong about the Stokes stuff right here it is. I told you getting Stokes WILL NOT MATTER for Pope. People will say this kind of stuff if he lands him. That’s why it isn’t even worth the hassle. Stay away, Pope. Don’t do it.

2 seed and a 3 seed 2 of his last 3 years here. Consensus POY.

On top of the basketball world.

Oh to suck like that now.
Double digit loss seasons all 3.

Two first round exits and a second round exit.

Not to mention we just won more SEC tournament games with this dysfunctional team than he did his last 4-5 years here combined.

Truthfully there’s little to no difference between his last 5-7 years here and Pope’s 2 years. Neither one are remotely good enough to be here.

Well, you’d think the moral of the story would be “the grass isn’t always greener” for those of you who miss Cal. Ironically, even though we just had a coaching search that came down to Mark Pope or Shaka Smart (100% confirmed by Matt Jones), we must continue the same mantra: “Anyone is better than who we have”, amirite?
Shaka Smart? My god Mitch Barnhart is so bad it hurts.

Stokes is an obvious mercenary. He isn’t going anywhere for the coach, the program or to be developed. It’s pure money, everyone knows this. Do you think Dybansta went to BYU for any reason other than 7 million.

And? Even if he somehow manages to win, who cares? Would an SEC title be nice given where we are? Sure. But the only thing that matters are national titles and he’s LONG been done getting anywhere close to winning those.

There’s absolutely zero way you could get me to take back that sorry sack of ****. Just because Pope sucks doesn’t mean Cal is any better.

Plus let’s not forget, he wouldn’t be playing right now if he were still here. He had been phoning it in for many years here. The embarrassment of having to go to Arkansas from Kentucky gave him a little motivation to actually try to win again. Notice he’s not pushed every freshman out the door at Arkansas and has tried much harder keeping guys there than he ever did here.
Players are being paid now. Some are getting paid 7 figures, big difference.

Personally I don’t care as long as he plays and doesn’t pull a JQ. But he seems to be firmly in the “anyone but Pope” camp. He seems pretty desperate not to want to play for him for some reason.

You’re preaching to the choir. Just don’t tell me he needs to land this guy for a PR win in the future. You were one of those saying that and now saying this. Yall don’t even play by your own rules.

2018 won the sec tourney.

2019 was OT away from final 4

2020 won sec by 3 games

Those are better seasons than Popes first 2. Winning the sec and sec tournament is winning things that matter.

Not to mention the brackets totally opening up while we lose in round one. I get sick thinking about it.

There was a time when this board was all gaga over Shaka. As I recall, he had a nice run in the tournament and many RR posters were salivating pretty much the way they are over Golden right now.
He’s terrible. Golden has done more than him in a fraction of the time. Both may have benefited from one or two good teams. We shall see. Golden appears to be a better coach overall so far.

Well fat, not propping Pope or dogging him but at least he won a couple of SECT games and a couple of NCAAT games which Cal struggled to do, late.
Pope won 3 games, all before Friday. Since Cal always played on Fridays, I just can’t say that means much. Not like it matters, Cal just infuriatingly won two games he hasn’t won at UK in a long time.

Not if you wanna win top recruiting classes and NBA drafts. I swear if some of these people had truth serum we’d find out Kentucky basketball is more about entertainment for them than anything else. As long as they win McDonald’s games and mock drafts, they’d be happy. Can’t see anything else that would lead you to wanting Cal back based on his Arkansas performance.
Agreed, his performance at Arkansas hasn’t really been much different then popes at Kentucky, which is weird you say that though considering you want pope back so bad

I wouldn't hand over the trophy yet.

Last time Calipari played Vanderbilt in the SEC Finals he had Anthony Davis, MKG, Terrence Jones, Darius Miller, Doron Lamb and Marquis Teague.

And lost.

I don’t think you understand my Pope position very well at all…

I feel like I’ve explained it in pretty great detail and it definitely isn’t calculus. Yet here we are.

BTW who cares whether I do or do not want him back? It doesn’t harm anyone either way.

Vandy wins tomorrow.
You didn’t notice the Nashville whistle they got today?
They still would’ve beaten Little Eddie Munsters team though.

Those shouldn’t have been our only 2 options. I blame Mitch for all this!

Cal hasn’t won it yet. Don’t be surprised if Vandy wins tomorrow

I think Vandy wins it, and I hope they do.
if we were smart we shouldve gave cal one more year to see if he couldve gotten dybantsa and wilson to go along whth acuff and thomas

Cal left on his own, we didn't have the choice to give him one more year. He had had enough of Kentucky and it's fans.
