But have yall ever thought that it could be that we aren’t what we had hoped? Sure we had chances but we ultimately lost all of those games. Maybe we aren’t clutch and maybe we don’t have the pitcher capable that these other teams have? Three times is more than just bad luck.

It’s March 14th and we’ve played one league game. We’ve looked like every bit of a really good team. Way too early to panic, and I’d tell you that even if we gets swept today.

I do have good news though. Alabama basketball got beat and put out of the sec tournament and all of their fans are heading home and they will be calling in to cry to Paul finebaum about it on Monday.
It's not basketball season anymore

Still not a huge fan of our pitching staff snd decisions. The three games we lost were because we couldn't shut it down in the 9th or 10th and gave up a home run or a wild pitch or gave up a huge hit. Where are the guys with girodos? Parker needs to find a Simms or holder type guy quick or oak needs to go find someone else this off season. Offense comes back every game but our pitching ends up giving the game away.

Our weakness is the mid/long/relief. At least up until this point.

I think it’s more that we’re very very close to being a legitimate national championship contender. I said from day one it will probably be April before we see what this team can really do.

We don’t have a true lock-down closer. Those wanting a Sims/Holder type…. Guys, it’s not on the team. But Ben Davis and Jack Gleason IMO can be effective in those spots. I’d prefer Davis, Gleason is good in his role now.

I get trying Miller there- but he’s just not ready for that. I’m guessing Oak thought he might step up in that moment, but he had a freshman moment and I wonder if it was a little big for him (even though he’s been put in big spots). I still think he’s going to turn into a great pitcher for us with time and development.

Anyway- let’s get two today!

Yeah— I think more just need to realize this is a long season and we have a fairly young team. Especially pitching-wise.

I see this every season on this board- too critical too early on. Sometimes they end up being right, but a lot of the time, the team comes around. We have good pieces, but our pitchers deserve the time to develop.

It's tough managing pitching in the first game of a 3 game series when you're trailing basically the whole game. If we were taking a lead to the bottom of the 9th, I bet we'd have seen Davis.

We've got plenty of solid pitching left, and we can still hit the ball. Gotta make damn sure we get one today. I hope it's the first one.

I get it. And our coach knows infinitely more than I do. Still wished we’d pitched him, but it is what it is.

Just log it as more experience for Maddox and keep rolling.

I would have too. But I also wonder if down 2 we didn’t want to get him warmed up for a game he probably wasn’t going to get into with a DH coming up today & didn’t have time to get him warmed up after we hit the hr. Maybe if we’d already been tied the decision might be different. I don’t know. Just speculating.

also wonder if we’d been home instead of road if we might have used him. If we’re home he may only need to pitch 1 inning to get a win. On road he’d have to pitch 2.

I think it’s more to do with he wasn’t ready to go, honestly, though I don’t know who we had warming up. I get it’s also hard knowing you have two more games and I’m sure he probably wasn’t warming up down two for that reason. I’m just being selfish.

Ok ok, being the bearer of good news. How about this one. #2 Texas got beat at home last night…..the world is watching it this morning and wondering why there were hardly any Texas fans at the game. So that will help overtake them in the rankings.
