It’s not possible to post anything positive or supportive on this board without someone attacking you for being dumb or a homer. We’re all disappointed about our team’s and Coach Pope’s lack of success, but could we stop with the hatred?

You can post positive stuff, everyone wants to see us win, but we all know what is coming so it’s hard to really enjoy it that’s all. Honestly what has been fun about this year really? Another injury filled, best (future pro) not playing after being paid a ton, terrible game plans. I wanted 00 to go out with a bang, but instead he always balled out for the most part just to keep us winning 20 games somehow.

You can’t post anything positive or it gets quickly mocked and stomped out. You know this.

No, it’s the same way in reverse. When we win the happy at all time posters make the same comments to the people who are unhappy. It goes both ways. But in the end everyone would be happy if we had the program we should have.

I'm normally a very positive person when it comes to Kentucky Basketball. However, it's pretty hard to be positive when the problems are blatantly obvious and have been since the start of the season. We are 2 days away from selection Sunday and my buddy and I called out our problems with this team before we played our first game. It's mind blowing to me that a guy that is supposed to be an analytics guy, and came with game plan to shoot 30+ threes a game, did NOT BRING IN SHOOTERS!! It's either because he's a moron, OR, the correct answer, he's unable to get people to play for him. He needs to go.

You can post positives about aspects of the game or players all day long. I thought Mo had a good tournament. Chandler had one good game. Oweh giveth and Oweh taketh like always. It’s the blue glasses when it comes to Pope that sets people off. The man has wore out his welcome with a large portion of the fan base.

Wrong. Read the innocent, positive threads on the first few pages. Every single one of them got mocked and trashed and most were in between games. You are playing dumb because you have turned negative, bigtime.

It’s sad but also understandable. I’ve only seen absolute unity in BBN when we’re great or absolutely 9-16 awful.

Some people just lash out at any positivity because they care so much and are sad that we aren’t what we have usually been right now.

Others make UK basketball their entire lives and take the bad seasons so personally to the point it makes them miserable on and offline.

I’m generally a more positive poster and the sea of constant negativity even after wins does get tiring. I understand it, but every thread about anything just turns to “Pope sucks” and it makes the board redundant AF.

What is there to be positive about?
The coach said all off season how special this group was going to be.
Fans knew this was a lie, no star player, no shooters, not athletic, no post presence.
No interest from recruits. Home court losses. Not ready to play to start games.
Losses to ul, unc, Gonzaga thrashing, Michigan state, Florida 3 times, vandy rubbing and more. 14 loss season. Coach throws players under bus. All of this for 22 million, which includes an injured player that had little chance of playing.

So which of these things are positive? 🤔

When you have people blindly supporting the coach despite everything that proves other wise you cannot reconcile with them. I don’t care if it’s on Facebook, these are people who claim to be freaking fans of Kentucky:

Utterly psychotic.

I have a buddy that thinks Poope deserves at least 10 years here to build a title team.. And that retard is 100% serious..

yeah, we get it, the season sucks, Pope's recruiting sucks, his substitution patterns are a roller coaster ride and we lost a ton of games. No UK fans are happy about any of that. But nobody knows how this is going to play out.

So many of you have your minds made up about how bad next year is goung to be, but you don't know.

It's Pope's UK coaching career at stake, if he doesn't fix his issue, he's out, so why hate the guy? He's doing things the way he knows how to do them.

But I'll say this, I want him to get a fair shake next year. I want to see how he does with a healthy roster the entire season. Last year, 4 key players were either out for the season (Kriisa, Robinson), or hobbled most of the year (Butler and Carr). sorry, but you're screwed in that situation.

This year, 3 starter level guys, gone. Yeah, say what you want about JQ, but everyone thought he would play at least half the year.

Honestly, any team that loses 3 key players, shouldn't theoretically make the tournament. They damn sure shouldn't be winning @ Arkansas and UT.

I think most of us feel like Pope is not the guy, there are red flags, but there are also things Pope has accomplished that were pretty dang good too.

can anyone name a team that lost 3 of their top 6 guys and did anything good? I don't know of any. This isn't a video game, it's real.

So, we're all in the same boat, but when I say something positive about Pope, or a player, I shouldn’t get attacked because you're miserable.

I want Pope to be great, I doubt he will be, but I've been wrong before and I at least want to see him coach a team that stays healthy before I kick him to the curb and trash him

Does he have a strong hate of Calipari? A lot of those folks seem to despise Cal as the anti-Christ while treating Pope like he’s Jesus Christ himself.

He does.. He's old school,, hates the 1AD,, wants UK go back to players staying to get to know them,, yada yada yada.. Here's one of his posts..

"There’s only so much a coach can do. I loved our defensive effort today, we held Florida to 3 three point makes, we turned them over 16 times, and we held them to 38% shooting from the field. We did a much better job on transition defensive, and we had nine steals. It’s not the coaches fault that we missed so many shots today. We have the right coach, but it takes time to build a winning program.

Todd Golden was 16-17 in his first season and 24-12 in his second season. Dan Hurley at UCONN was 16-17 in his first season and 19-12 in his second season. Nate Oats lost 36 games in his first 3 Bama seasons. Bruce Pearl was 15-20 in his first season at Auburn and 11-20 in his second season there. I think all of those coaches turned out to be OK. It’s a marathon, not a sprint and we have the right guy."

Then this zinger,, lol..

"Final fours aren’t the standard for Kentucky though, national championships are. Mark Pope knows the assignment.

The way I see it is he has 10 years to win a national championship. In the history of Kentucky basketball, the ratio for national championship coaches is one championship per 10 seasons, with the exception of John Calipari, who only had 1 championship in 16 years. His ratio is by far the worst of the championship trophy holders."

Nothing wrong with being positive. But when you have multiple posters coming here celebrating that UK kept a game close, all while completely overlooking that they were down double digits for 95% of the game, they deserve to be mocked.

Florida toyed with UK for all 120 minutes of basketball that was played this season, but some want the “good effort” prize? That is nowhere near what the UK program was built on.

Problem starts and ends with the AD....Between the JMI stuff, Pope not wanting a GM.. AD should be stepping in and fixing it... Demand pope gets a GM and stop the bleeding at the recruiting table.. A better talent evaluation coach... I think Pope can coach..... Last year showed that.. Injuries have derailed both years.... And a late decommit at point guard. I'm not totally off the pope wagon. But he has to make some serious changes this year.. If he pulls a Cal and make no changes.... Then I'm done with him.

Maybe it would be easier to be positive if there was something to be positive about.

should we be positive about ZERO recruits for next year?
What about our nerdy *** AD fleecing us for another million a year that coulda went to a player?
Oh, MAYBE, it’s the fact that Pope has the same record as Billy Clyde. That’s positive for sure!!

It’s extremely hard to see anything positive with our coach right now. If there is a divide it’s 90/10 in favor of getting rid of Pope. Seems like a strong majority are on board at this point.
I’d say amongst the fan base it’s easily 90% that feel that way.
I'm not sure how, but there is that 10% of sunshine pumpers that would be totally fine if we lost every single game. Wouldn’t matter to them. They’ll never say a negative thing period.
It’s so damn cringey to hear the losers that call in to shows like KSR and are just so out of touch with reality.

The first game against Florida, at Florida, I thought it was pretty reasonable to be positive about keeping a game close against probably the best team in the nation on their home court. There wasn't any shame in that. But, losing at home AND again today, well, no. There's nothing positive about that and it's embarrassing.

I'm not embarrassed at any of the Florida.losses, I don't like losing, but they're at full strength. When they go to the bench, they bring in better guys than Garrison, JJ and Jelevic.

If we had our full roster, we win 1, maybe 2 of those 3 games.

We were definetely 1 or 2 good players short of winning those games and we have them, they just can't/won't play.

I would certainly be embarrassed if we had this many losses with our full contingent of players.

BBN showed up in Nashville and supported the team despite posters on RR saying they weren't going and nobody should. I fully expect the boosters who spent tons of money in NIL to do so again this year. Until the money people quit, like many on RR have, I am expecting us to again field a team next year that HOPEFULLY can win a lot of games and have a great post-season. Admittedly, this year was not good at all.

Many of us survived the Sutton scandal and probation. UK came back and it will come back again.

I've never attacked anyone on here.

We ALL want to win, we all have different opinions, and we all handle losing differently.

When we're hurting and frustrated, many of us are desperately looking for an outlet, and unfortunately that outlet can become a fellow fan who's handling the same disappointment in a different way.

At the end of the day, we're all Cat fans, so hopefully some of us can keep that in mind when we're attacking or being attacked.

Remember, we ALL hate UT, UofL, Danny Hurley, Todd Golden, and DUKE!!

The losses are the least of Pope’s problems as a coach.

That’s the disconnect.

Pitino lost 14 games his first season here and everyone loved that team.

To excuse Pope’s embarrassing the program is just beyond belief.

Maybe you didn’t sit in MSG and Bridgestone and watch him quit up close?

But I did.

Maybe you didn’t see the game at Vandy this year? But I did.

Maybe you haven’t noticed that players don’t improve? But I have.

Maybe you haven’t noticed that players are not in shape? But I have.

To say that no one can see that this will continue is just will full blindness.

Stevie Wonder can see where this is going.

I come to this site for good conversation about Kentucky basketball, and over the years there have been some very knowledgeable and level-headed posters who have offered it.

The overly exuberant posters can be tedious, but the miserable posters who take every loss as an occasion to stoke misery make this board toxic.

If you want Pope fired, fine, walk out of Rupp, or send a letter to the President and Board of Trustees. Fighting with other fans on a message board ain’t moving the needle.
