Northwestern fell behind 45-21 in the first half and was unable to recover in Nick Martinelli's last game with the Wildcats.

I think he means we need players coming in who are immediately able to fit in to his system and contribute on both sides. Plug and play so to speak. Didn't quite have that this year it was more developmental for those guys but certainly flashes of ability and a full off-season should make a big difference assuming they return.

Some Purdue board yahoos claim they have sources that Tre will hit the portal. They claim 3 Big 12 programs have already pulled a Michigan and illegally reached out to his people. Think it is wishful thinking from them, so we’ll see. I think he’ll be really good and stay at NU, but i have zero sources.

Nothing would surprise me in 2026 college basketball. So that feels possible (also could be total BS). I do think Tre will probably want some assurances that we’ll have a big guy or two that can actually play. I don’t think that’s the big freshman coming in (feels like a redshirt to me) and who knows where Bennerman will be in 8 months. Tre was consistently asked to guard guys way bigger than him because of our lack of a big man. I think it would be fair for him to ensure we get someone who can fill that spot before 100% committing.

That said, Tre has to improve on the defensive end significantly and also get his 3 point % at least close to 30% in year 2. He’s got so much talent and already has a mature body, but still needs to improve a lot in those two areas. I believe he will and I hope we see the result in Evanston.

Maybe they actually had good sources. Insisted he was gone 3 weeks ago,
